Student ID Badges - Launching Monday, January 27
Student photo ID badges roll out this week (Monday). All students will be expected to wear these badges at all times when on campus, on the bus, and at school-related events (exceptions: during PE or Kickstart class). Students will receive a complete run-down/training on the use of the badges, including consequences for not having/wearing them, and replacement costs and procedures. See additional information further down in this newsletter.
Please be sure to read the item below related to food and other deliveries for students at school.
Please join our counselors for their Mid-Day Break with the Counselors this Wednesday at 11:15. We are in the beginning stages of course selection for 2020-21, and you will have an opportunity to find out more about that and ask questions.
The City of Sugar Land continues to work along Seventh Street. Please see their update further below in the newsletter.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your family. We hope you all have a great week!
Kindest regards,

Food and Other Deliveries for Students During the School Day
Recently, we have had a significant number of deliveries for students, particularly for lunches, through organizations such as Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Door Dash. Unfortunately, we cannot accept deliveries for students from these and similar companies. Parent drop-offs are fine, but not delivery companies. This is because we cannot verify that the items delivered came from parents. Student-initiated orders, even though they should not have their devices in their possession during the day, will also be turned away.
Additionally, please remember that we cannot accept parent drop-offs of food for group distribution. This for things like pizzas, cupcakes, etc. Parents will only be able to drop off food for their children.
Last, please do not have deliveries of balloons, stuffed animals, or floral arrangements sent to the school. Thank you for your understanding.
Work Continues Along Seventh Street
FROM THE CITY OF SUGAR LAND (JANUARY 24, 2020):
Work is set to continue along Seventh Street between West Green Circle and West Lake Circle. Seventh street is expected to continue to be one way from West to East until construction is completed in June 2020.
Motorists are asked to mind traffic signs and not drive West on Seventh Street at this time.
In addition, residents are asked to be mindful of work crews, expect traffic delays, and when possible, avoid the area to prevent traffic congestion.
Visit its.sugarlandtx.gov for more information on Sugar Land travel time data.
Check out the CIP Story map for more information about this project.

Older, But Important Items
Immunization Update from Nurse Lincoln - Sixth Graders
Your child did or will receive the Tdap and the Meningitis vaccines at their 11 year-old check-up. Please provide proof of these immunizations to the clinic when your child gets them. These are the required shots for 7th grade and providing them as soon as you get them will keep your child compliant! You may email it to angela.lincoln@fortbendisd.com, fax it to (281) 327-8745 or drop it off in the clinic. For any other medical concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic at (281) 634-8745.
Yearbooks on Sale! - $40
Yearbooks are on sale for $40. Tribute ads for current 8th graders may also be purchased for either $20 (1/8 of a page) or $40 (1/4 of a page). To order, simply visit https://www.balfour.com/student-info?smi=71485. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Childs at Molly.Childs@fortbendisd.com.
Laptop Lending Library
We are pleased to announce the re-launch of our Laptop Lending Library. Students will have the opportunity to check out a touch-screen laptop, with carrying case and charging cable, for two weeks, just they would check out a book. Some paperwork is required to be completed by parents, first, however. Please visit our Laptop Lending Library page or contact Mr. Sinclair, our Librarian or Mrs. Smith, our Library Aide, for more details.
Parent Volunteers
We love parent volunteers! Please renew your annual Criminal History Authorization (CHA) by visiting the district website. These reset on July 1 each year. Then, please join the PTO by visiting their website at www.slmspto.org.
