Dear Parents,

The Postal Service is delivering one shipment of 4 COVID tests per residential address. Enter your name, address and email at www.usps.com/covidtest to request a shipment. It is live now.

Enrollment for 2022-2023 is due by January 23rd. The enrollment link for current families can be found here: https://saintsusannaschool.com/enroll Enrolling siblings of current students can be done at https://saintsusannaschool.com/apply If your child is not returning, please indicate this on the enrollment form. Our annual Open House is scheduled for January 23rd from 12:45 - 2:45 PM. This is for new and current families. Current families are welcome to visit their students' current and future classrooms. We also invite our middle school students, former students, and current families to serve as tour guides for our new families. Please email me to sign up as a tour guide at jabdoulaye@saintsusanna.com

Lastly, we are looking to add adult or responsible high schoolers to our part-time EDM staff. EDM staff would work after school for a few hours each (or most) days. Middle School Robotics Wins Design Award

Big picture

Our Middle School Robotics Team including Chinonso, Zeke, Brynn and Jackson, did a great job at their first competition in Lawrence Township this past weekend.

They won the Design Award which demonstrates the ability to implement the most effective and efficient robot design process with minimal assistance. This award requires students to explain their Engineering Notebook and answer questions from the Judges.

They placed 11/25 on the Team Work Challenge matches where they were paired with another team working together to score as many points as possible driving their robot.

They came in second for the Excellence Award which this award exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program.

Team coaches, Mrs. Karen Villarias and Mr. Nick Helbert, are so proud of the team’s accomplishments. Our next competition is this coming weekend at Zionsville Middle School.

COVID Policies Update

We have seen a recent uptick in parents and family members of our students who are testing positive. Parents, we appreciate your letting us know of these situations. Please continue to inform us if your children have contact with a COVID positive individual outside of school. We are happy to help you understand the appropriate public health guidelines in your particular situation.

Our updated COVID policies can be found here. This includes information about mitigation, control measures, and quarantines.

Prekindergarten Visits the Library...and Moe!

Big picture
For the first part of the school year, Mrs. Authenreith visits the prekindergarten classroom for library time. She reads them books and they talk about the stories. Last week, prek visited the library for the first time and got to check in with Moe (our favorite reading rodent) and resident chinchilla. It was a big day for our four year olds!

Inclement Weather - School Closings and Delays

In the case of inclement weather that results in a school delay or closure, parents will be notified via the following methods:

  • Our communication system which will call, text, and email the parents and guardians listed in our student information system.
  • Our social media pages
  • Major local television news programs

In the case of a 2-hour delay, there will be no 1/2 day preschool or prekindergarten classes on that day and morning care will open at 9:00 AM for all other students.

I sent out a test text message in January. If you did not receive it, it means that you have not opted in to text messaging from Saint Susanna. To opt in, please text YES to 87569. You will then receive future text messages from us. I use these very sparingly to communicate issues of an immediate nature such as school delays and closings..

School Counselor

I am happy to announce that Saint Susanna has a school counselor available for our students on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ms. Katie Evans comes to us from Catholic Charities. She is a licensed clinical social worker / therapist. She will work with students on an individual basis, as needed. She will also teach whole class social-emotional lessons on topics such as being a good friend, bullying, and other age-appropriate topics. Ms. Evans presence in our school is made possible by utilizing a portion of our EANS grant from the federal government over the next two school years.

Students may be referred to Ms. Evans by teachers or the principal for a one-time visit. After that, parents must complete an consent form for continued visits. The consent form is available at the end of the Monday Memo or in the school office. You can reach Ms. Evans directly at kevans@saintsusanna.com

Easy Fund-Raising for Saint Susanna Catholic School!

Box Tops for Education

Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1: Download the new Box Tops App (iTunes or Google Play) – it’s free
  • Step 2: Create a username and connect it to your child’s school
  • Step 3: Scan your grocery store receipt. Items with the new Box Tops label will be automatically credited to your school

Does this mean I should stop sending in my paper Box Tops that I have already clipped? No! Continue to send those to the school!
