Principal's Note
Staff,
A demanding but productive school year is drawing to a close. Before we breathe a huge sigh of relief and launch into summer break, it is fitting to take a moment or two to reflect on how far we have come and where we are headed.
First, I want to recognize each of you for the dedication, talent, energy and care you bring to your work. Together, we are making a visible difference for our students, families, and community.
This year we set our sights on some challenging schoolwide goals in the areas of standards-based instruction, vocabulary building, student achievement, and community engagement. In spite of the challenges of fewer instructional resources, fewer supports, and services, we have focused on what matters most ensuring our students are learning and that we continue to grow as a staff and school.
In ways large and small, each of you has made a positive difference for kids this year. If I haven’t had an occasion to express this to you in person, please know that I deeply value your efforts and your commitment to the students of McAdenville Elementary. Until the last child exists on June 7th (Science EOG retest day); we will encourage students to be the best they can and do more with the education we've helped them secure this year.
Every life is a story, thank you for being part of my story

Engagement and Worksheets
How often are you using worksheets for instruction and homework each day? How can we reduce the number of worksheets used during the school day?
Teacher - Student relationships
How can we change the tone of how we address students? It’s not what you say sometimes it’s how you say it. Model what they expect. The modeling sessions may have to be repeated a number of times, but model the expectations (Behavior and Instruction) with grace and respect for the student.
Agenda and I Can Statements - Daily Expectations
Each classroom should have an agenda listing what will be taught each day.
Each classroom should have I Can statements posted each day and tied to a standard.
- Standards Mastery
- Conferring
- Building Assessments from Standards-Based Instruction
