The Lucas Letter
Dear Hanna Woods Families,
Since we have returned to in-person learning, each day has gone better than the day before. As we all learn and adjust to new routines and procedures, the school day runs smoother. Now that each student group and their families have had a few days to acclimate to arrival and dismissal, we will return to our typical dismissal timeline. At 3:05, teachers will begin preparing students for dismissal. At 3:10, students attending Adventure Club and who are walking home will be dismissed. Parents who meet students who walk should meet them on the sidewalk Northwest of the parked cars (please see the picture below). Students who are walking will be escorted across the parking lot by a staff member. At this time, we will also begin inputting family numbers for our students who are being picked up to exit the building and begin bus dismissal.
To help us expedite dropoff and pickup, please note the following:
- Please remain in your vehicle.
- To ensure student safety, please have them exit the right side of the vehicle.
- Due to COVID, staff will not open doors unless your child needs assistance. Once you are in the unloading zone, please have your child exit the vehicle.
- Please have your child(ren) prepare to exit the vehicle (gather items, say goodbyes, etc.) as you are approaching the school.
- Please stay in your lane (do not go around cars) and wait until a staff member releases the cars.
- Please place your Family Number placard visibly on the right side of your car.
We continue to ask for your help in the weeks to come as we all learn a new normal and work to remain healthy and safe. Please ensure you are completing a daily health assessment for your child. If your child is showing any signs or symptoms of COVID, please air on the side of caution. If any member of your family has been in contact with someone who has COVID, please stay home, reach out to your pediatrician for guidance, and inform the school. Our goal is to keep everyone safe, and we know it will take us all working together to make this possible.
In partnership,
Cartelia Lucas
Holiday Helping
As the holidays approach, many feel a wonderful sense of joy as we look forward to holiday festivities – decorating, baking, shopping, and celebrating with family and friends. We also know that this can make for a stressful season rather than a joyous season for some of our families experiencing financial hardship. We want to join together as a community to ensure that our families can enjoy the holiday season.
We would also like to continue our school-led program to help support families in our school during the winter holidays. If your family would benefit by being a recipient of this program, please click here to complete this form or go to https://forms.gle/6ireS4Mzw2RNFNqv5. You can also scan the QR code below to complete the form. Please complete the form by Friday, November 15th. Your family's need and the information provided will be kept confidential. Once we collect the wish lists from our families, we will reach out to our community to make some holiday wishes come true!

Shout out to Isaiah in Mr. Jackson’s class for having a great work ethic and doing his very best to keep his priorities straight despite any distractions. He knows that if he gets his work done during the asynchronous time, he can have more personal choice time. Isaiah always makes sure he does what is expected of him and always tries his best, which is a strong reflection of his grit!
Virtual Tiger Pride Shout Out
A Virtual Tiger Pride Shout Out is used to recognize students when they display our core values. Please consider submitting a Virtual Tiger Pride Shout Out for your child to be recognized.
