CGE June Newsletter
6/1/2020
Hello CGE Families!
Welcome to June and the last three days of school (Distance Learning). It certainly has been an ending to our school year, unlike any other in my entire career (33 years!). I want to thank our teachers and school staff for working incredibly hard to set up opportunities for our students to continue to learn. That being said, I also want to recognize the amazing efforts of our students, parents and care givers. Everyone stepped up to the plate and maneuvered through Distance Learning together. THANK YOU!
We have no information at this point as to how we will begin our 2020-21 school year, but the district has begun to research possible models for the school year. They will take direction from the Minnesota Department of Education and Department of Health, The Governor and the CDC. Please look for information to come throughout the summer. Whatever the case will be, CGE will be ready for our students! Class lists have been created and we will not be able to make any student moves. Teachers and staff at CGE can’t wait to see students again!
Unfortunately, our yearbooks have been delayed due to COVID 19. As soon as we receive them you will be alerted. Many have already ordered one, but if you didn’t you will still be able to do so since we ordered extras. Once they arrive there will be days and times that they can be picked up. We will let you know as soon as we know.
June 3rd is the last official day of school for students. It is also the day that student materials and progress narratives can be picked up and any materials belonging to the school you have will be collected at that time as well (library books, classroom supplies, technology devices borrowed from school, instruments, etc.). There is a link on our school website for you to sign up for a scheduled time to do this so that we can ensure social distancing. If for some reason you are not able to make it on Wednesday, please call our office to make other arrangements. 651-425-5801. Only one person per family will be allowed to come into the building. Please drive around to the back of the building and use the gym entrance door. Other than the gym, access to the building will not be permitted. Thank you for following these guidelines.
A VERY SPECIAL FAREWELL TO OUR FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS AND FAMILIES! You are an amazing group of students and you will be missed greatly at CGE! Please do come and visit us when you are able to! Best wishes in middle school and beyond!!
Lastly, ENJOY summer! Take time to step away from screen time! We miss everyone and can’t wait to see what the fall will bring. Take care!
Theresa

Keeping Children Healthy While School's Out
From the PTO...
Hi Families! Do you have box tops at home that you weren't able to send to school? The PTO is still collecting box tops and you can drop them off at the materials exchange next week. Each box top is worth .10 for our school - so don't throw them away! Also, don't forget to keep submitting them digitally as well. It's very easy - just download the app and scan your receipt. Details on this process can be found here: https://www.boxtops4education.com/en/How%20To%20Earn
The PTO wishes all of our CGE families a healthy and happy summer. To our departing 5th graders and families, we wish you the best as you continue on to middle school. Thank you for being a part of making CGE the amazing community it is. We will miss you!
