Summer Drivers Ed - Students will have the opportunity to take Drivers Ed this summer. Two sessions will available (June 1-15 and June 16-30). Classes will be limited to 24 and will be filled on first come, first served basis when online payment and registration have been received. Only ten spots left in Session 1. Cost is $120 for Madison County students or $145 for out of district students. Visit HGHS Drivers Ed for more information.
Swim Parent Meeting - On Monday, April 6th, at 5:30pm, in the Hazel Green High School cafeteria, there will be a Parent Meeting for students interested in swimming for HGHS Swim Team next year, starting August 2015. To be eligible to swim, you must be a student in good academic standing at HGHS, including those 7th and 8th who are in a feeder school to HGHS. Rising Freshman Registration - If you were not able to attend, visit our Freshman Registration Page. Counselors will be at MVMS on March 30-31 to register students for next year. Schedules will not be changed in the fall, so it's important to make an informed decision now.
It's Follies Week! The Thursday night performance of Follies will be at 7:00 P.M. in the Wright Gym. Cost at the door is $5.00 for everyone except those on the Follies list. Seniors who want to see the show Thursday night will pay $5.00 at the door, unless they are a performer in Follies. Friday morning show cost is $3.00 but Seniors do not have to pay. All seniors planning to check out after Follies clean up on Friday must bring a note with FULL name and parent signature giving them permission to check out. Notes must be given to Mrs. Barnes before the show on Friday morning.
Football/Competition Cheer Tryouts - Informational Parent Meeting at HGHS on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:30pm in Room N-215. Tryouts will be held April 6 - April 10 in the old high school gym (Wooley) from 4:00 to 5:30 and are closed to the public. We will do our best to be finished with tryouts by 5:30 on Friday but be prepared in case we run past 5:30pm. March is National Athletic Trainer's Month! Tweet @HHSportsCenter with how much your athletic trainers mean to you and HGHS. In honor of National Athletic Trainer's Month, look for weekly trivia questions @TOCSports1 and @HHSportsCenter to be entered to win weekly prize packages and the chance to win Alabama Hammers tickets. Questions can also be answered in the athletic training room with Wes and Nikki.
HGHS Bowling Team - The AHSAA sanctioned the sport this year and will start championship competition in the 2015-2016 school year. If you would like to get involved, contact Coach Jason Smith at josmith@madison.k12.al.us. Here are a few details about the season:
- Provides regular season competition for girls and boys. It becomes a sanctioned sport in the 2015-16 sports year with championship competition.
- Each school team is limited to 12 matches.
- The season concludes January 17, 2015.
- Team size may be determined by the school coach or local school policy. During a match only eight team members – five bowlers and three substitutes – will be allowed in the pit (team area) during competition.
- First practice is October 27. First contest is November 17.
Basketball Cheerleading Tryout Clinic will be held March 30 - April 2 from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Tryouts will be held April 3 from 4:00 to 6:00pm in the HGHS cafeteria. The cheers and dance for the tryout will be taught and practiced during the week, March 30 – April 2. Email rmims@madison.k12.al.us or visit the Basketball Cheer website for more information.

Prom
Prom will be April 24th. Tickets on sale now for $75 each, until this Friday, March 20th. After Spring Break tickets increase to $100.00 per person.
Girls Dress Code:
1. Excessive cleavage is not allowed.
2. Dress may be backless as long as it is not cut below the waist.
3. Navel may not be exposed.
4. No pinning will be allowed as an alteration for a dress if, without the pinning, the dress does not meet dress code.
5. Dress should not be excessively short or pulled up when dancing.
Boys Dress Code:
1. Suits or tuxedos should be worn.
3. Shirts must be buttoned up to the second button from the collar.
4. Pants should fit properly on the hip and not sag below the waistline.

You may submit your own design or one of our talented staff members will create one for you. Pricing: 1/8= $75, 1/4=$95, 1/2=$130, Full page= $180, 2 page spread= $275. No WORD documents please. Special Programs
Adventures at AMCOM (A@A) 2015 is a developmental opportunity for rising 9th -12th graders that will expose students to engineering, logistics, business, technical, and acquisition missions on Redstone Arsenal. This program will be offered to 20-25 students from across the Tennessee Valley the week of July 13-17, 2015. Deadline to apply is April 3rd. Contact ladonna.m.mccann.civ@mail.mil for an application.
Boeing Huntsville STEM High School Internship Program - The Summer Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through exposure to various engineering careers and Boeing products. Students work 6 to 8 weeks from June through July to complete 120 to 160 hours or as determined by the student’s school curriculum/program requirements (approximately four hours per day). The program is an unpaid internship. Email ahutchison@madison.k12.al.us for an application. Applications must be postmarked by April 3, 2014 to be eligible.
Narrative Story Contest - Winter 2015 Story Contest deadline is Tuesday, March 31. The Winter 2015 Story Contest is open to all writers, and all entries will be considered for publication.

UAH Chargerette Dance Team Tryouts will be held April 3rd and 4th. Email chargerettes.dance@uah.edu for audition materials.
North Alabama Youth Leadership Board allows you to network with prominent business leaders of Huntsville, learn about issues in our community and give back to the community. To participate, students must agree to serve one full term on the Youth Leadership Board (September 2015 through April 2016) and attend board meetings once a month. They must also participate in partnerships with our affiliates: HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, National Children’s Advocacy Center and North Alabama Autism Society. Huntsville Hospital Athlete of the Week - Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement. All weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor in May, and two students are selected as Athletes of the Year. The two Athletes of the Year each receive a $1,000 scholarship. Trojan Daily Tips - All the newest information will be at the top, followed by our Athletic Schedules, Current Announcements, Senior Information and Permananent Announcements. Information from previous newsletters remains posted in Current Announcements until it expires. I welcome parents to send scores, pictures and updates from any Hazel Green sports or activities. We can't brag about it if we don't know about it. Scholarship and college visit information will only be posted once, and then it can be found on separate webpages for General Scholarships, College and University Scholarships, and School Visits and Special Programs.
Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.
Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend - Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.
1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.
2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.
3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.
Juniors Have Free Access to ACT Online Prep - All juniors received a personal user name and password to the ACT Online Prep website. This is a great resource to be used in preparing for the ACT Plus Writing assessment which will be given to all of our juniors during school. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize this service provided to us. For more information, visit http://www.actstudent.org/onlineprep/.
First Priority/FCS meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Choir Room. All students are welcome to attend.
Parenting Assistance Line: PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.
Recycle: Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.
Reward Cards: Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit: Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.
Loyalty Reward Tags: (Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag. Just stop by the main office to pick one up.
