Student Raises Money for Hope One Atlantic County
Megan Herbein (12th grade) helped to raise more than $5000 for Hope One Atlantic County. Hope One Atlantic County is a mobile response unit that offers critical support for persons struggling with addiction. Megan's dad passed away when she was 14 from a heroin overdose. Therefore, this is a cause close to her heart. Megan organized a pancake breakfast at Our Lady of Sorrows Church hall this past August with the help of her family, friends and the Egg Harbor Township Interact Club.
You can read more about Megan at the link below.

WEEKLY GAME/SCORE REPORT
Varsity Girls Soccer
Home vs Rancocas Valley - 9/4/19 @ 3:45 PM / Record: 1-0-0
EHT opened the 2019 season against No. 7 ranked Rancocas Valley. In what was a well-balanced match, junior defender, Kristen Semet, opened the scoring early in the second half on a shot from distance that found the side panel. Senior goalie, Grace Baumgartel, continuously kept the shutout going for the Eagles blocking 24 shots in total until late in the game, junior forward, Niki Danz, received a beautifully weighted ball from junior defender, Hayley Duncan to seal the victory. Senior captain, Lauren Ebner, led the team admirably assisting on the first goal and helping secure the shutout late in the game.
Away @ Vineland - 9/9/19 @ 6 PM / Record: 2-0-0
EHT decisively won its first road game of the season 7-0 at conference-rival Vineland in Gittone Stadium. Junior defender, Casey Biglan, scored the opening goal 7 minutes into the game on a smart finish off a corner kick. She later scored off a powerfully struck direct kick to secure her first career ‘brace.’ Senior forward, Gabby Germann, tallied her first of two goals this week with a masterful shot from a tough angle; she also assisted on two of her teammates goals. Senior midfielder and captain, Lauren Ebner, had a dynamite night assisting on two of the seven Eagles’ goals while junior midfielder, Kyleigh Oberman, played a penetrative ball behind the Vineland defense on EHT’s second goal of the game. The big story of the night was junior forward, Niki Danz, who found the back of the net four times on her way to being named NJ.com’s CAL player of the week. Senior goalie, Grace Baumgartel recorded five saves in her second shutout in as many games.
Away @ Cedar Creek - 9/11/19 @ 3:45 PM / Record: 3-0-0
EHT played its second of three road games this week in the heat on Wednesday in the heart of Egg Harbor City at Cedar Creek HS. Having to overcome a number of mental hurdles, EHT rallied from an early deficit on a goal by junior captain, Lauren Baxter, assisted by senior midfielder, Kara Semet. Perhaps one of the most mentally and physically tough players on the field, Baxter assisted on a goal later in the first half by playing a quality lofted ball into the box which senior forward, Gabby Germann, masterfully headed into the upper ninety of the goal. Cedar Creek kept fighting and tied the game late in the second half. Just minutes before the final whistle, however, junior defender, Kristen Semet, found space to play junior forward, Niki Danz, in behind the defense. Danz was not going to be left off the score sheet today and buried the ball in the back of the net for the game winner. EHT heads to Bridgeton on Friday and then hosts three home games next week culminating in a game versus last year’s CAL champions, Mainland, at noon on EHTPRIDE Day.
Varsity Boys Soccer
On Friday, September 8th, the Boys Soccer team travelled to Franklinville for an out of conference game against Delsea Regional. The skies darkened and the sheer physical battle on the field was enough to make the earth shake. The game started quickly with the Eagles finding the back of the net within the first three minutes with a low blast by Kevin Aguiriano. Shortly after, Manny Ruiz doubled the score to lead the boys into a 2-0 halftime score. Delsea proved to be a tough opponent and caught the boys sleeping on a rare comeback goal. But just like dolphins sleeping with one eye open, the boys came back on the offensive. Kevin Aguariano ensured the win with a near post blast. Jeff Castro ended the day with three saves while Kevin Aguiriano, Ahmad Brock, and Jayden Guy assisting on the day.
On Monday, CAL rival, Vineland Regional High School travelled down Harding Highway to face off in the sacred grounds of EHTHS. The boys soccer team was off to a slow start and Vineland capitalized on the opportunity. Nico Rubio, recent addition to the EHT squad, netted his first varsity goal in the black and white, followed shortly after with a goal from Ahmad Brock. Vineland answered with two quick goals before the half that left the Eagle faithful dumbfounded as to what was happening. The halftime speech from Coach Lambert was enough to set the team straight and things were on the right track with the Eagles getting a goal back. The Clan stayed in the game until the 70th minute of the game. Just like three minutes and fifty-eight seconds into Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, the boys began to ROCK! Ahmad Brock fed Manny Ruiz to bring the score to four, then EJ Martin continued with a highly contested shot. The icing on the cake was done by captain Cole Gordon as he received the ball at the top of the D Ring and slotted home a blast that made the fans scream, “Oh mama mia, mama mia!!”
Wednesday night, the Eagles suffered their first defeat of the season against a sell out crowd here at Eagles Stadium. The Prep scored two goals in the first half, but the spirit of the crowd kept the boys in it. Ahmad Brock got the ball deep and was able to pull the ball back to an open Manny Ruiz that was able to beat the keeper to bring the score to 2-1. Despite the rally, the score ended that way. The defense played well in front of Jeff Castro. The boys are back at it against Bridgeton on Friday to get back the win.

Girls Tennis
Girls tennis is off to a very good start! Over the weekend, the varsity played in a tournament at Stockton U and posted wins over Atlantic City and Cedar Creek. On 9/11/19 Samantha Phung (1st singles), Ema Cadacio (2nd singles) and Cecilia Munoz & Emma Lynch (2nd doubles) won their matches to secure a 3-2 win over Millville. Ema's singles match was over three hours long and was extremely close. Ema is the Queen of the Tie-breakers, winning her match in two tie-breakers 7-6, 7-6 to clinch the win for the Eagles! Overall team record (including tournaments) 6-0.
Girls Volleyball
The Girls Volleyball season has begun! We had two tough matches so far against Pleasantville and ACIT. The girls battled and fought in each game, but could not close for the win. Come out and support the Lady Eagles on Friday, September 13th against St Joe's at 4pm!
