2018 Dance Recital

2018 Recital Week Is Almost Here

The time is here! Your dancers have been working so hard all year and we can't wait to see them shine on stage! We hope this week will be fun-filled and stress-free! We have detailed out each day of recital week so that you know where you need to be, what is expected, etc.

At the bottom of this newsletter you can find links to purchase flowers for your dancer, the recital ticket link and link to the audition forms.

A few details to mention....

We have sent out a parent "sign up" for recital week and hope that you have volunteered. The only way we can make this event possible is with the help of all of you. We ask that you help in some capacity on one rehearsal/show and sit back and enjoy everything on the other night. If you have not yet signed up to volunteer, please do so using the link found at the end of this flyer.

No siblings, friends or family members allowed at our closed stage rehearsals. Please just one adult family, and should you choose to stay please sit on the sides of auditorium as the center seats are reserved for our dancers.

You do not need a ticket for any evening that you are volunteering with us.

The only people allowed back stage are the volunteers assigned by the studio. No parents please - assigned volunteers only!

No students in the auditorium during the show performances, under any circumstances.

Please DO NOT leave after your child's number. We hope you will sit and enjoy the whole show, but if you must leave, please do so at an intermission. We have a long-standing reputation for running a very professional show and we ask for you to help us keep it that way. If every parent left after their child's dance, others would not be able to see their dancer and the in and out of the auditorium is extremely disruptive. PLEASE WAIT UNTIL INTERMISSION.

All dance numbers require that hair is in a bun (unless you have Mr. Jeff for hip hop class - hair for Mr. Jeffs' classes will be in a pony tail) and any hair accessory should be placed off to the right side of the dancer's bun.

Please ensure you have the correct tights and shoes required by each class.

No bangs. Please use gel or hairspray to pull all bangs back and to secure any loose hairs. We want everyone to look professional and well-coordinated.

No jewelry of any kind. No nail polish.

Absolutely no photography or videography in the auditorium! We will have a back drop for personal photos set up in the lobby. If you would like a photo of your dancer and their peers it will be available for you in the lobby on rehearsal days. Students should not be in the lobby in costume on show days for any reason. We want to maintain professionalism and keep the magic alive!

Please NEVER arrive to the venue in costume!

Dress Rehearsal at Cab Calloway School of the Arts

Thursday, June 21st, 6-9pm

100 North Dupont Road

Wilmington, DE

Dancers should arrive in normal street clothing (NEVER IN COSTUME). Check in with us outside the auditorium to find out where your child will be getting dressed on this evening and the shows. Dancers should treat this as if it were the real show. Hair, makeup, assigned accessories, tights etc. should be show ready! Once your dancer is dressed and ready they should report back to the auditorium to find their assigned aisle like Tuesday until they are called back stage. If the dancer has multiple routines, they should go back to the dressing room, change and again report to the auditorium and find the aisle of their second routine. etc.

Dancers are invited to watch as much of the show as they would like or that parents allow as this is their ONLY opportunity to see the show. NO DANCER under any circumstances will be allowed in the auditorium on either show day. It is extremely unprofessional and disruptive to the audience.
