Self-Control is our March Character Word of the Month
Hello MJT Families:
Well that white stuff is out there again. Daylight savings times changes this weekend.
We are glad to announce that the PTO Science/Technology and Art Fair registration forms need to be in by March 18. Forms are being sent home. We will be in person this year! The Fair will be on Thursday, April 14 from 5:30-7 p.m.

- Grade 2 students will be visited by members of our FFA Club from the Jr.-Sr. HS.
- Report Cards will go home with students on Wednesday, March 16.

Pre K:
-Letters, Oo, Pp
-Counting 1-20 by rote, Meaningful counting, counting objects to 6
-Retelling stories, title, author, illustrator, setting, and the main character
fiction, rhyming, opposites
-Identifying letters in their first name, tracing first name, drawing a picture and dictating its meaning
Kindergarten:
-cvc words, Word families, Compound words
-We are reading level and decodable books
-Answering comprehension questions about books
-me, we, he, she, as, has, was
-Continue subtraction to 5, ten frames to show the teens, missing numbers to 20
-Number bonds, Addition, Subtraction
-St. Patrick’s Day, Weather, Spring (animals, people, plants)
First Grade:
-Vowel Teams: ai/ay, ee/ea/ey, ou/ow
-Connecting text to real-life experiences
-Characters, Setting, Retelling (beg., mid., end), Problem/Solution
-Writing 2 related, complete sentences with a capital letter, proper spacing, and period
-Cheeseburger Model- Narrative writing with transitional words (first, next, then, last)
-Sun, Moon, Stars in relation to Earth (Patterns in space: day/night, seasons, constellations)
-St. Patrick’s Day/Leprechauns
Second Grade:
-Suffixes-less,-ness,-ful,-ment,-able,-ish,and -en.
-Students will review categorizing suffixes as vowel suffixes or consonant suffixes. Vowel suffixes begin with vowels and consonant suffixes begin with consonants.
-Different types of sentences (statements, questions, exclamations, commands), --Using is/are, was/were
-Characters, setting, problem, solution, Context Clues, Text Features
-Sequence Words, Rereading Our Writing,
-St. Patrick's Day, Black History Month
Third Grade:
-R controlled vowels, Homophones
-Review of prefixes (dis, mis, un, non, re, pre)
-Text features, Close reading, Review of theme scheme and characterization, Main idea
-Fractions- Partition a whole into equal parts, identify and represent shaded and non-shaded
parts of one whole as fractions,
represent fractions with number bonds, and compare fractions.
-Biographies- Henry Ford, Thomas Edison,
Rosa Parks, Alexander Graham Bell, and Ben Franklin, St.Patrick's Day
COVID SAFETY:
- Only students who are under an official order to quarantine by the county/state may receive remote instruction. A Google link will be sent to families from the teacher. You can also arrange to pick up any materials that may be needed for instruction by contacting your child's teacher.
- We are limiting outside guests from the building.
