From Alexa
This week we have the two fun events: Book Fair all week and the Craft Faire on Thursday (see blurbs below for more details). Originally we had planned to do the Egg Drop on May 3rd, but due to a scheduling conflict, the MLC Egg Drop has been moved to May 21st.
I am also postponing the Principal Tea to May 11th because I will be out to the building on 5/4.
Thank you for sending your talented and curious students to MLC!

THE PAWS FOR BOOKS BOOK FAIR IS HERE! - Message from Veronica/Top Dog
Follow the Paw Prints to the Book Fair, April 30th to May 4th.
Why do volunteers put on the Scholastic Book Fair? We love books and we love seeing how excited students [and grownups, too] get when they find something great to read. We love getting the MLC Community involved with student readers who read books and provide "Book Blurbs" and Volunteers who set up, take down and staff the Fair. And then there's the money raised from the Fair that helps to support the MLC Library. The Library has 2 sources of funding to purchase books and supplies: the PTSA and the Book Fairs. The Book Fairs provide 75% of the funds. The Fall 2017 Book Fair raised $1,000.00 for Kiva to make purchases for the Library. The Library currently has $1 300.00 Scholastic Dollars available to purchase books, etc ... from Scholastic.
And this Book Fair is special - there is only one Wish List! It is the Library's Wish List, or as I like to call it, Kiva's Basket. At the Book Fair you will see a basket of books that Kiva has selected for the Library and you can help support the Library by purchasing one or more of those books. You can also purchase the books online at the School Wish List on the MLC Scholastic page. Many of these books are the ORCA nominees for 2018-2019 and did you know that our own Kiva just wrapped up a 2 year gig as Chair of the ORCA Committee.
You can check out all things Book Fair at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/mlcpdx. Sign up to volunteer, and check out the Wish List and search for your favorite titles.
And the PTSA is supporting the Book Fair by once again offering Book Fair Bucks. This is where you can put money on account for your child to make purchases at the Book Fair. Check it out at http://www.mlcptsa.org/store/p26/bookfair. Please note that any funds not used will be donated to the MLC Library.
See you at the Book Fair,
The Top Dog
