Cuneiform vs. Hieroglyphics
What is Cuneiform?
Cuneiform came from ancient Mesopotamia in about 3500 B.C. Cuneiform creation began as a system of symbols and eventually expanded into an entire written language. This language is important because it is one of the first languages know to man and the only people that could use it were scribes.
What are Hieroglyphics?
Hieroglyphics came from ancient Egypt in about 3200 B.C. Hieroglyphics were created on papyrus so they could be preserved for a long time. Hieroglyphics are important because it could be used as a secret message because only scribes and rich men could read them.
Similarities and Differences
Both Cuneiform and Hieroglyphics are forms of writing. Even though their both very old Cuneiform is older and also made in Mesopotamia while Hieroglyphics were made in Egypt. Another similarity is that only certain people could read and write these two writings.....SCRIBES!!! Scribes and lucky rich people were only allowed to read and write.
