Let Me Introduce Myself

My name is Danita Jackson. I am married with 3 beautiful daughters. My youngest daughter has Autism and takes up most of my time while I’m home. I have learned much patience and perseverance as a constant advocate for her needs. They all keep me very busy and entertained daily.

In addition, I am a very involved member of my church. My husband serves as the Assistant Pastor, which makes me a “Pastor’s Wife.” I am also one of the active Missionary Evangelist in my church, as well as a Sunday school teacher, and youth leader. I love being a leader in the church, and am anxious to fulfill my role as a a teacher leader in my school and district.

I am in my 5th year teaching 4th Grade, and have taught 5th grade for 3 years at the Middle School. I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Education in 2002, and am so grateful and excited to be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership. I have a wonderful support system in my husband and family, encouraging me to accomplish all of my goals. As a teacher leader, I have beliefs and values that I believe schools should follow in order to be successful at increasing student achievement.

My Personal Values

I believe a valuable and efficient teacher leader should possess 5 great values:

Be Committed to yourself, students, and co-workers;

Have Compassion for teaching as well as learning;

Be a Trustworthy leader willing to support co-workers and staff as needed;

Be able to show Respect for self and others;

Love and honor Family and Faith.

I Believe

I believe that every student can learn at his/her appropriate learning level. As educators, we have to provide them with the resources they need to do it. I also believe that all adults have learning styles, and can learn at his/her level of learning. Having an autistic daughter has enlightened me and helped me to better understand what the mindset should be of an educator. I believe that it is my job as an educator to teach all students the way of life, whether it be boy, girl, white, black, with/without a disability. Some learners need a little extra help pulling the knowledge out of their brains, and into the real world.

My Education Motto

I have followed this motto all year long, and believe that it truly leads me in the direction of a great teacher leader, on a daily basis!
All Children can learn! They just need different tools at school.
