Take a moment to view the video from Dr. Jimerson below.
Graduation Photo Shoot
Dear Seniors,
While we still have plans for a traditional graduation at a later date, we invite you to participate in a virtual graduation ceremony, which will be presented on your scheduled graduation day, May 28, 2020.
Our virtual ceremony will include each element of our traditional graduation ceremony, including a picture of you in your cap and gown with your diploma, which will be taken May 12th, from 9:00-4:00. A schedule will be sent with designated times for students to show for their photo. Please note that due to timing and logistics, this will be the only opportunity for your student to be photographed to be included in this virtual ceremony.
Here’s how we will make this work:
In order to create the “Presentation of Diplomas” portion of the virtual graduation ceremony, seniors will come to Main Parking Lot of Centennial High School for a quick photo shoot at the time designated times.
What do you wear?
You will wear your cap, gown, stole with 2020 on it, and tassel for a photo taken outside at Centennial High School. Please arrive dressed in your cap and gown and be ready for your photo to be taken immediately upon getting out of the vehicle. If you do not have your cap and gown, please reach out to Mr. Shaha as soon as possible. He can be reached at scotts@bisdmail.net. Honors cords and National Honor Society stoles will be handed out at the photoshoot. Under your cap and gown, please wear the appropriate dress. That is listed below:
- Jeans, sweats, wind pants, shorts, or tee shirts are not appropriate.
- Males will need to be in a collared shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes or boots.
- Females should wear a dress or slacks and dress shoes or nice boots.
- Graduation regalia cannot be personalize nor decorated for the photoshoot or for the ceremony.
Where do you go?
Enter the Main Parking Lot at the front of Centennial High School dressed for your photo to be taken immediately upon getting out of the vehicle. You will be directed by staff to line up using appropriate social distancing guidelines. We will not have access to restrooms or mirrors. As soon as your picture is taken, you must return to your car and leave campus. (In order to comply with social-distancing requirements, we ask that you come to the campus alone. Only students taking their pictures will be allowed out of their vehicles for the photos. You may not congregate on the campus before or after their photo has been taken.
Photos will be taken at the front of the school under the awnings. Park in the front lot and follow directions of staff members on where to proceed.
How do you say your name?
Mr. Jeff Smith will read students' names as he has in years past. To ensure your name is pronounced correctly, we have had staff reach out to determine the correct pronunciation of the graduates name. If you or your student have not been contacted, please email the phonetic pronunciation of your name by Friday, May 8th to our announcer, Mr. Jeff Smith at smith.jeffrey826@gmail.com.
What if I have a special part?
The ceremony will include: the presentation of colors, an invocation, welcome, speeches from designated students, the class song, and a benediction. Students participating in these portions have been contacted separately to schedule time to video.
We look forward to celebrating our Class of 2020! If you have any questions, email ikie.holder@bisdmail.net for more information.
The photo taken will also be made available to families free of charge. More information on how to obtain the photo will be given at a later date.
Class of 2020 Reverse Senior Parade
The parade includes every neighborhood in Burleson, so we are asking for the help of our community to share this information.
We encourage all seniors to participate by decorating the front of their homes, front doors, or yards. We also ask parents to communicate this event with family, friends, homeowner associations (HOAs), as well as local businesses, inviting them to drive through BISD neighborhoods to celebrate our graduates. Please help us spread the news by sharing the details on social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, NextDoor, etc.
IMPORTANT: For everyone’s safety, we ask families to remain on their property, drivers to remain in vehicles, and everyone to follow the City of Burleson’s social distance and health protocols.
The Reverse Senior Parade will conclude at 8:20 p.m. with the lighting of all BISD stadiums (football, baseball, softball, and tennis) in honor of the Class of 2020.
We appreciate your support and participation in celebrating the Class of 2020.

We're here for you! We understand the COVID-19 may be creating extra anxiety for people who are experiencing abuse. We are committed to continuing to serve everyone who needs us--we are also committed to protecting the health of our clients and team and doing our part to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
Check out our interim operating guidelines.
If you are in an abusive relationship, you should be aware that the extra stress and anxiety we are all experiencing puts you at extra risk and that abusers are likely to try to use the COVID-19 pandemic to their advantage. Abusers may:
Try to manipulate survivors into believing there are no resources available for them or that police or paramedics won’t respond to their calls.
Try to tell survivors that the abuser is infected, that they’ve infected the survivor, and if the survivor leaves them, they’ll put others at risk (a way to trap them at home).
Forbid the survivor from seeing friends or family because of the risk.
Downplay the risk and force the survivor to leave the house, or threaten to kick them out and expose them to the virus.
Limit sharing critical information about the virus with survivors.
Remember--One Safe Place provides an essential service, so we are still open. IF Y'ALL NEED US, Y'ALL COME SEE US. We are located at 1100 Hemphill Street in Fort Worth. It's a good idea to call before you come, and if you don't feel like it's safe to leave the house or to come visit us, we can help you by phone. Our number is 817-916-4323.
While our world, our country and our community are being affected by the pandemic of COVID-19, the significant problems created by violence, crisis, and poverty continue. The Women’s Center is committed to providing service to our community in the midst of these challenging times.
