Important Grade 8 Information
High School Information for parents of Grade 8 Students:
Any Cameron Grade 8 student can apply to Keefe Technical School if interested in attending Keefe next year. Applications can be completed online using the link below.
We have paper copies available in the main office as well. The priority deadline to apply is January 15. All applicants will be interviewed at Cameron on February 9 or February 13.

All Grade 8 students will automatically be enrolled at Framingham High School. Students will learn more about course options in February.

TITLE I HOME & SCHOOL INVOLVEMENT COMPACT
Each Title I, Part A school must jointly develop, with the parents of children served under Title I,
Part A, a school-parent compact as a component of its written parental involvement policy. A
school-parent compact is a written agreement between the school and the parents of children
participating in Title I, Part A programs that identifies the activities that the parents, the entire
school staff, and the students will undertake to share the responsibility for improved student
academic achievement. In addition, the school-parent compact outlines the activities that the
parents, school staff, and students will undertake to build and develop a partnership to help the
children achieve to the State’s high academic standards. [Section 1118(d)], ESEA.]
What must a “School-Parent” compact include?
The School-Parent compact must describe:
1. The school’s responsibility to provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a
supportive and effective learning environment that enables children served under Title I,
Part A to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards;
2. Ways in which parents will be responsible for supporting their children’s learning (for
example, monitoring attendance, homework completion, or television watching;
volunteering in their child’s classroom; and participating as appropriate in decisions
relating to the education of their children and positive use of extracurricular time); and
3. The importance of communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis
through, at a minimum:
○ Parent-teacher conferences in elementary schools, at least annually, during which
the compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement;
○ Frequent reports to parents on their child’s progress; and
○ Reasonable access to staff, opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s
class, and observation of classroom activities. [Section 1118(d), ESEA.]
Attached is the Cameron Middle School Title 1 Home and School Involvement Compact in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Please review and sign this document with your child. These can be returned to homeroom teachers.

Parent Teacher Home Visit Program
In case you missed this, the District has recently announced that we are resuming the home visits program in partnership with Parent Teacher Home Visits, a non-profit, grassroots network, in an effort to build stronger relationships with our families. Student Drop Off/Pick Up
Students must be dropped off and picked up on Elm Street. Please drop off on the side of Elm Street before the entrance to Cameron. Cars are not allowed to enter the circle between the hours of 7:35 am- 2:50 pm. Outdoor adult supervision begins at 7:55 am. Doors for breakfast open at 7:55 am.
Cell Phones and Airpods
Please remind your child that cell phones and Airpods must be off and in their lockers each day. Please refer to the handbook for our policy.

District Equity, Diversity, and Community Engagement (OEDCE) Committee
Seeking FPS team members, students, parents/caregivers, and community partners
Collaborates with the OEDCE on ways to progress the work of equity and celebrate diversity in the community.

Student Coalition for Equity
Seeking dynamic FPS students (variety of grades / ages) who are interested in advancing the work of equity and diversity within the Framingham Public Schools.
The coalition will advise, plan, organize, and support initiatives that promote equity and diversity.
Empowers students and encourages the development of their leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
