THE PTO PRESS
October 2018
October is an exciting month for our students.....and a busy one for our PTO! The PTO will be hosting Scholastic's 'Enchanted Forest' themed Book Fairs at all schools. I hope you will join
us for some family fun at one (or all!) of our Book Fair events this month. Our Book Fair events will most definitely be enchanting! October also marks the return of our enthusiastic Boosterthon team who will provide our students a S.T.E.A.M.-based character program ending with a supercharged Fun Run. The PTO introduced Boosterthon last year and it became our single largest monetary fundraiser in our PTO history. We hope to match this outstanding achievement again this year. Halloween activities will close out this month which is bound to be filled with magical memories. Enjoy the ride!
~Helene Santillo, PTO President

Boosterthon 2018
This year’s main fundraiser is Boosterthon! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally at each school. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on November 1st (Clifford & Hill) and November 2nd (Stratton & Harker). With our big goal of raising $40,000, each school has chosen items for which we are fundraising: iPads and an update to the courtyard at Clifford; a new poster machine at Stratton; a kiln and courtyard learning environment construction at Harker; and an upgrade to the gymnasium sound system at Walter Hill. We asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it easier, more profitable and more fun for our students.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M. skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Donations will go toward our fundraising items and to the entire two-week experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Stratton, Harker and Walter Hill Fun Runs! Please watch the vimeo video below to learn more about this fantastic fundraising event. Thank you for your support!
Box Tops Collection Drive
The PTO has set a goal of reaching $5000 in combined Box Tops fundraising this school year. There are many ways to contribute to our ongoing Box Tops Collection Drive. Clipped Box Tops can be sent to school in a small baggie with your child's teacher name/school building on it throughout the year. There is also a collection bin in each main office. Please register at: https://www.boxtops4education.com/ to join our district under the name of Walter Hill Elementary School. You will receive special Box Tops bonus contest information and receive in-store offers. Register your Shop Rite store card and all participating purchases will be automatically added to our Box Tops account. Our first collection drive deadline is October 15th so please send in those clipped tops. Our collection efforts can be significant with a district our size -- please sign up today!
Amazon Smile
The Swedesboro-Woolwich Elementary PTO is registered to receive .5% of the price of all eligible Amazon purchases when you register to support our charity. Here is our direct charity link: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/41-2059530. This website is the exact same Amazon we all know and love.
