This Week At SHOJ
Jan. 29, 2021
From Mrs. Rhodes
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Ps 32:8
As we celebrate Catholic Schools and the beauty that they bring to our lives, we need to start planning for the next year. We know that it is some work on your end to enroll, but these numbers are important as we start opening enrollment up to interested families on Feb.11. I think that this year the "SHOJ Secret" is out and there are many families interested. There is additional information on the school website under the enrollment tab about financial assistance etc. Please make sure that you check family information careful and that we have correct contact information. If you need any help or have questions, please call the office.
The biggest change in our budget this year is the salary increase. Last year, when the pandemic hit, the salaries were frozen. We are blessed to have such a supportive parish and to be able to retain great teachers while offering a quality education with support services, technology, textbooks, etc.
I will be speaking at all the Masses this weekend and will share that with you next week. We won't have a State of the School meeting this year, but we will share a video when we get the final report from our accreditation visit.

SHOJ Covid Updates
"Student Counselor"
Dear Sacred Heart families,
It’s my privilege to introduce Mrs. Megan Mixon to SHOJ as my student counselor for the rest of the school year. She is working on her final steps toward her school counseling licensure and I am thrilled for her to have chosen Sacred Heart as one of her learning platforms. Along with being a counselor in training, she is a wife and mom of children who attend the Desoto school district. I worked with Mrs. Mixon last year as her on-site supervisor and I was impressed by how natural the counseling role seemed to come for her. But I was especially struck by her sincere love and care for children. Mrs. Mixon will be working alongside me, as well as taking the lead at times in small groups, individual meetings with students, and even a classroom lesson. I will absolutely notify you to get your permission if your student is chosen to participate in her groups or individual meetings. Thank you in advance for welcoming Mrs. Mixon to our amazing school where I know she will get to learn from the very best students, staff, and families.
With gratitude,
Lori Schierts

From KC Pregnancy Clinic
We opened July 1 2020. 2020 the year of the pandemic. It appears that 2021 could be a year where politics has the potential to impact the pro-life movement in a very sad way.
But we have to look forward and seize the opportunity that this will bring for us. We know that Planned Parenthood wants to open a facility in the central core of Kansas City KS, where we are serving. That will be a strong possibility of happening now. We have to be diligent in watching for them, aggressive in reaching out to the women and families who are in the deciding stages of pregnancy. We must continue to serve, love and pray. We must also remember this is Gods plan for us to be serving this community.
We have served 38 women with their pregnancy decision. Five of these women were abortion minded and have changed their minds. These babies are to be born this spring and early summer. This has been a challenge with the threat of covid abounding everywhere. But we are rising to this challenge to serve our community. We just served 22 women this past week, giving out 35 packages of diapers with wipes and some formula. We have women taking classes on line to earn points. They will use the points to get items you have donated for their babies.
We had volunteers from Sacred Heart of Jesus school in Shawnee, helping us to package diapers, move them from the basement to our second floor suite, and to help prepare our babies clothing room. We are now preparing our sonogram room. The Knights of Columbus have approved the purchase and are collecting the monies now for our machine. We will see many more clients when the life saving sonogram machine is here. We are so grateful for this life-saving donation from the Knights of Columbus.
I want to thank each of you for your prayers, your time donated and your treasure you so generously shared with us. I am attaching a picture of the students from Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Shawnee, they moved the diapers, packaged diapers and added labels to them. Enjoy the smiles on their faces, under the masks.
We are so grateful for your support. Know you are in our prayers of thanksgiving everyday here at the clinic. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions at 913-340-7788, or email me at, donna@kcpregnancyclinic.org.
Serving Him in Life with you,
