Thornhill Night at the A's
The Thornhill Dads Club is preparing for one of the school's most-popular events, the annual Thornhill Night at the A's.
This year's night will take place on Friday, April 21, when the A's face the Seattle Mariners (the hometown and favorite team of your humble newsletter editor, Rex Crum). Thornhill Elementary School students, parents and their friends and families can purchase discounted tickets in two different seating sections.
And...To get the kids fired up for the game, the A’s mascot, Stomper, will stop by Thornhill for a visit on the morning of Wednesday, April 12. Stomper will sign autographs and pose for photos with students, teachers and parents for about an hour before school starts. Be sure to wear your A’s gear and bring your camera!
Stomper’s visit is always a fun school event as we prepare for Thornhill Night At The A’s. Tickets cost $32 for Field Level seats and $20 for the Plaza Outfield section. A portion of each ticket sold will go directly back to the school. Tickets have to be purchased through the above link in order for Thornhill to get its donation credit from the A's.
Dads Club is also planning on holding a Thornhill tailgate, with a food truck, at the Coliseum prior to the game. Last year, more than 300 Thornhill parents and students attended the game, so we could we could use some help with tables and chairs for the pre-game tailgate. If you have something you can volunteer, please contact Robert Jacobs at rjacobs@robertjacobsassociates.com. Robert has generously taken the reins with organizing this year's event and deserves a beer or two bought for him at the game.
And...The A's have cut the price of beer at games this year, too. All the more reason to attend.

Author Visit!
Author and comic artist Tania Del Rio will visit the 3rd - 5th grade students on Monday, March 27! Tania’s most recent title, Warren the 13th and the Whispering Woods, is getting great reviews. The Warren the 13th books will appeal to fans of Lemony Snicket.
Warren the 13th and The Whispering Woods and Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye are available for $18 each, including tax, at A Great Good Place for Books and at Monday’s event. A limited supply of signed copies will be available at A Great Good Place for Books after the event as well.
If you wish to purchase a book for Tania to sign, please follow this link, or download the form below.
Also, you can donate to the school libraray. Be sure to look at the list of books on the Thornhill Library Amazon Wishlist. There are so many wonderful titles to choose from, and the library would love to have them on our shelves. Feel free to support our local bookstores by making your purchases there. As always, thank you for supporting the library!

Pennies For Patients Fundraiser
Our annual Pennies for Patients penny drive to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is underway!
Each classroom will have a donation box. Please bring in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars, dollar coins, and bills of all sizes...Last year, we donated over $1,000 – Let’s do it again!! We’ll run the donation drive through mid-May.
A few Pennies for Patients facts:
- Thornhill is one of hundreds of schools across the nation participating in this donation program.
- Money raised will go towards cancer research, especially for children with leukemia and blood cancer.
- Leukemia is a blood disease. It affects our body’s production of healthy blood cells.
- Approximately 17,692 children of all ages in the SF Bay Area are affected by different forms of blood cancer, including leukemia.
- We can help! Every cent counts! Just 7 cents a day can help a patient with his or her doctor visits.
Thank You!
Yours truly,
