My 1st impression
My journey in life was when my twin nieces were born 3 months premature. Everything in my sister in law's pregnancy was going great and there were no problems with the babies or her. Until, she woke up at 4:00 am and she realized her water broke. She went straight to the hospital and she was okay and so were the babies, but the doctors told her she would have to be on bed rest for possibly 3 months or until the babies decided to come out.
Well the next day December 18th 2014 “baby A” (Ashlyn) decided she wanted to come out and see the world. “Baby B” (Payton) wanted to stay in and come out on time. So, Ashlyn and Payton were born 39 minutes apart and Ashlyn weighed 1 pound 14 ounces and Payton weighed 1 pound 13 ounces. I really didn’t know what to think besides “are they going to make it”? My family and I were very emotional but then again we all said “hey! at least we didn’t have to wait til march to see the twins!”
I will never forget the day I skipped school to go see my nieces, I was very excited, but then very nervous. When we walked into the NICU at Children’s Hospital and got all these papers signed we finally got to go in Ashlyn and Payton’s room. I walked in with sweaty palms and weak knees ….I stopped and stared and shed a few tears, there my nieces laid in a incubator. I was so shocked to see how small they really looked. My first comparison of the babies is “they look like little squirrels” because they were very small and furry. The babies were and still are healthy and came out of the hospital on there real due date March 18th 2015 and now they are 10 months old!
