Note from the Office
When reporting an absence or late arrival, we will ask you for your child’s name, their teacher’s name and a brief reason for their absence. The direct line for our attendance is 317-915-4248. Even if you email the teacher, you MUST report the absence to the office! Thank you!
Bell Schedule
School Hours 7:40am - 2:10pm
- Car line drop-off begins at 7:30AM and ends at or before 7:40AM.
- Car line pick-up begins at 2:10PM.
- Bus Dismissal begins at 2:10PM.
*If there are no adult staff outside, please come into the office (door 1) to sign your student in or out. A photo ID is required for check out.
Stay Hydrated
Don't Forget Your Mask
- Masks are required for every bus rider, every day.
- Please pack spare masks in your student's backpack. Students sometimes need a fresh mask after lunch, recess, or PE class if they wear their mask all day.
- Lanyards are helpful to keep track of masks. Lanyards must be breakaway for safety.

A Message from the Clinic
Please remember to send your student to school healthy. If a student is ill and has any of the symptoms of Covid listed below, we encourage you to get your student tested using a PCR test, which is available via Fishers Health Department (COVID Vaccine | Fishers, IN - Official Website) or the Indiana Department of Health (ISDH - Novel Coronavirus: COVID-19 Testing Information). PCR tests are the most accurate and provide less risk of a false positive or negative result. A visit to your physician is also suggested if you feel this is not Covid-related, then a doctor's note would be needed for your student to return to school. Please do not send your child to school ill or while waiting for Covid test results.

New loss of taste or smell

Yearbook Cover Contest
Yearbook Cover Contest Rules
This year’s yearbook theme is “Sports.” Please have your child be creative and use his/her imagination by creating a cover that captures the essence of HRE with a sporty twist. Please no computer-generated pictures. Just remember to be school appropriate in the design choice.
· The work must be on the “official” cover page provided. Use only colored pencils and crayons. No markers. (you can print the pdf below or your child can pick up a copy from the office)
· Every artist needs to sign their work! Be sure to have your child write their name on the line in the bottom right hand corner. They should also use pencil to write their name and their teacher’s name on the back.
· School name and year are already included on the template and not needed. Any additional wording must be legible. Please have your child take their time and do their best work when they write.
· All entries MUST be turned in NO LATER THAN the morning of Tuesday, November 23rd. No exceptions.
· Please follow the rules (listed above). Those not following the directions will not be considered.
· We will have two cover winners (one for the front and one for the back cover) as well as one winner per grade level (their submission will be highlighted on their grade level collage page). A thumbnail of all other entries will be included inside the yearbook!
· The winners will be announced during morning announcements.
**If your child would like to work on their submission over the weekend, please click on the link below for the printable copy. Please note that there are two sides to the document. The back has a space for your child's name and their teacher (please be sure that they use pencil on the back to ensure that it doesn't show through on the cover).
Order Your Child's Yearbook Now!
Hoosier Road Elementary is once again offering high quality yearbooks for sale to all of our families! The staff at HRE are in the process of designing our yearbook. If you would like to reserve a copy for your student, you may order online by clicking on the following link.

Our standard softcover yearbooks will cost $15 and our hardcover yearbooks are $20. You will also have the option to personalize the yearbook with your student's name for an additional $2. All orders must be placed online using debit or credit card. We will not be accepting any paper order forms.
*All yearbook orders must be placed no later than February 28, 2021. This is a firm deadline.
BOOK RENTAL AND IPAD FEES
The collections process will begin on November 10th for all unpaid book fees. Payment arrangements can be made with the school treasurer (Jennifer Eichenauer: jeichenauer@hse.k12.in.us) prior to November 10th to avoid your account going to collections.

Mudsock Youth Athletics Updates
Recreational Basketball News:
- Boys Basketball - Our winter season is off and running for athletes in the 1st – 6th grade divisions. Junior high players will receive their team assignments the week of November 22nd and the first practice will be on December 4th. Please note the kindergarten division kicks off in January. More information here.
- Girls Basketball - Athletes in kindergarten – 8th grade will take to the courts beginning Saturday, November 6th, for their first practices.
*Co-ed high school intramural basketball information will be released at the end of November.
Spring Program Registration:
Mark your calendars! Registration for spring baseball, softball, soccer, boys and girls lacrosse, rugby and track and field opens January 1st at myathletics.com.
