Monday Minutes

October 22, 2018

Happy Monday! Here are a few tidbits of information for the week:

We promised at the assembly that we would share the Bethany Brag category for the next assembly. At the end of this nine weeks, we will award Bethany Brags to students who take care of one another. Please share this information with your students so they can be working on this skill!

This week promises to be fun and engaging as we celebrate the importance of being drug free! A huge thank you to Andi and her team for organizing this week. Staff, please feel free to wear jeans if you are participating in the dress up days.

Monday: Wear all read

Tuesday: Dress like a tourist on your favorite vacation

Wednesday: Wear all camouflage or red, white, and blue

Thursday: Dress in 80's fashion

Friday: Wear mix-matched clothes

We need a little help at carpool. Rainy days bring many more parents through carpool. If you are ever available to help during carpool on rainy days, put that rain jacket on, grab an umbrella, and come on out! Your assistance will get us through carpool much more quickly and we will be forever grateful!

Finally, please continue to take care of yourself and each other. We are in the middle of this first semester, and some of us may be experiencing that mid-semester slump. Keep your head up and continue to do what's right for kids. We appreciate all you do every day and recognize how hard you work. Your efforts do not go unnoticed!

Instructional Minute

I recently read an article (attached) about setting up norms for independent work. The article discussed the need to discuss with our students what we expect to see and hear while they are working independently. The article also discussed practicing and troubleshooting when problems arise. This is the time of year when problems arise, and taking the time to debrief and address concerns immediately will help so that problems don't become unmanageable. Take a moment to read the article and reflect on your practice - think about what is going well and what needs troubleshooting!
