Next week we are talking about families. Please send in a family picture that can be used in an art project for your child to share next week. If you would prefer to send one via email I can print it at school for you.

"Please send in your family picture (immediate family, or those that live with you) by next Tuesday November 19th. If you do not have a family picture that is ok. Your child will still be drawing a picture of his/her family to share with the class.

What did we learn this week?

Reading: We read the book "The Day the Crayon's Quit." We talked about asking questions while retelling the story.

Writing: I continued modeling the the writing process. (Think, Draw, Say and Test, Clap and Count, Write) The students are still working on the "who" and "did what." I drew my picture ahead of time and the students had to guess what my story was about. This week the students continued drawing lines for words in their sentences followed by beginning and ending sounds in words. We are still working on clapping and counting our words to create lines and write what sounds we hear.

Phonics: We continued to work on beginning sounds in words. We also learned color words and talked about the beginning and ending sounds. We also did some color by numbers.

We also learned the poem "Oh Rainbow, Oh Rainbow." We learned two new high frequency words; "your," and "are."

Math: We also talked about 2D and 3D shapes and the difference between them. We also read many shape books and learned a new shape game.
