Latin music is from Latin America. It is commonly played in America, Cuba, Dominican Republic, etc. Most artists are from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, etc.

History of the Music

Latin music happened because of African slaves. The slaves played music to pass the time and it got blended with the Latin culture.

Music Today

Connection to Dance

Cha-cha, Rumba, and Samba are a few dances associated with Latin music. The Cha-cha is a dance with small steps and hip movements. The Rumba is similar to the Tengo. The Samba is a dance while wearing bright and colorful costumes.

Characteristics of the Music

This music is associated with the spanish language. Mainly, these songs include guitars, drums, bongos, and maracas. Some social events with Latin music include New Years, Christmas, etc. For certain dances, they wear special costumes like in the Samba dance. Some of the most famous artists include Pitbull, Shakira, Marc Anthony, and many more.
