A Principal's Perspective

You know that I love the inspiration for teaching eloquently written and created by Krissy Venosdale. I have used her quotes and posters in past GP Mustang Smores. Her poem, "Those Kids", makes me think about our own students. Together, how do we create a school where we unleash the joy of learning for our kids where they can wonder, explore, investigate, question, stop and ponder? A place where the learning process in all of its messiness is nurtured and valued.

Many of you are very familiar with Ron Clark. Take a look at the video clip from CBS about an innovative educator passionate about student learning. Procedures, high expectations and achievement are all there, but did you notice the passion, energy and the general feel and spirit of the school? In the video clip Ron Clark states, "If you got individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of kids, they [students] are going to be successful!" Passionate, dedicated educators have the power to create a school where students are empowered to explore learning.

Our school is intentionally staffed with passionate educators all about the success of each student. As a teacher (because we are all teachers) at GP, how do you envision our 2018-2019 school year where our students are excited to be at school? How do we together unleash the joy of learning at GP for all students?

Be innovative - Design the possibilities!

Schoology: Schoology codes will begin being emailed to parents on September 3rd. Schoology for Parents Link:

Students Leaving During CAMP & Lunch: If a student is called to the office to leave campus during CAMP, the CAMP teacher will receive a blue form to pass on to the teacher. If the students leaves during lunch, a blue form will be under a corner of the classroom's lunch table cone. This will help to notify classroom teachers that a student was checked out of school during these times.

Budget: September 1st will start our new budget year and our new copy counts. Casey will send grade level budgets to the team leader. For the copy budget, please see below for your team's assigned copier and copy counts. Please help manage copy budget by copying to your assigned copier. As always, if you need additional copies, please let me know.

PreK - 3rd Grade Levels: 200 Office Copies & 1,500 Teacher Workroom Copies

4th Grade: 200 Workroom Copies & 1,500 Office Copies

CAMP: 50 Workroom Copies & 500 Office Copies

Specialists: 100 Workroom Copies & 1,000 Office Copies

SPED: 100 Office Copies & 1,000 Teacher Workroom Copies

As you know, the copier does not limit your counts, Please be aware of your copy counts and budget accordingly. We receive a monthly report if you want to know more about your monthly copy counts. With all of us effectively managing our copy counts, we can manage our budget to be able to fund school/classroom supplies/activities instead of copies. This indeed is a great example of "It Takes a Village!"

T-Tess & ATR Student Progress: Want to follow up on the student growth measure indicator for T-TESS and ATR? Slides from August professional development can be found at this link: Please take time to watch the helpful video (slide 8) from Rock Prairie and CSHS about their experience last year implementing the growth measure component. At the end of the slide presentation, you will find examples from last year as well.
