The American Revolution

King George
King George III taxed all the colonists in order to raise money for the British, since they needed money to pay off the war debts.
Role of women
Women was not of high status during the American revolution. They normally served as nurses during the revolution. Then after the revolution, women acquired a higher status because they where considered the Mother of Republic.
Common Sense
Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine. This book became really popular during the time of the American revolution. Through this book Paine showed his dislike to the British monarch (King George).
Boston Tea Party
The Colonists where forced to pay other taxes such as stamp act,quartering acts,etc., so
The colonist were upset, because the British were taxing specific items,such as tea, for more money. They raised the taxes on goods to pay for their previous war debts. This may be a good idea to raise money but for the colonist they were not happy with it. On December 16, 1773, a group of colonist dressed up as Native American dumped 342 chest filled with tea, into the Boston Harbor in order to show their protest to the taxes. This became known as the Boston Tea Party.
