This first section is different than the paper copy I sent home today!!! Please read! I didn't want the students to see it.
Project: Locker Love
I’ve never done this before, but got this crazy idea the other day that we’re going to try! I think the kids would absolutely LOVE it if their parents surprised them by decorating their lockers in some way while you are here for your parent conferences. If you want to bring your own sign, decorations, magnets, etc… you can, but I will also have some paper available here for you to write on and hang up on your child’s locker. (The dimensions of the outside of the locker that can be decorated are 6" across by 36" tall in case you want to have something pre-cut and decorated to just tape up when you get here.)
You don’t have to be fancy or feel the need to consult Pinterest and come up with anything elaborate. It’s truly the thought that counts.
I know how special it is for kids at the middle and high school when someone decorates their lockers for sports or clubs. I think the kids will think it is pretty special to be encouraged by their parents for the hard work they do at school.
Happy New Year!

Guest Expert Assistance
The Guest Experts have been a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about different careers and passions. I have tried to schedule a guest expert for each full week of school. If you are interested in being a guest expert, or know someone in your family or in the community that would be an interesting speaker, please let me know at our parent conference meeting next week.
One more favor... our guest expert next week works at the animal shelter. If you would like to make a donation of clumping kitty litter, dry puppy food, paper towels, laundry detergent, or XL rubber gloves, I would like to surprise him with some of these needs they currently have.
