Car Drop Off/Pick Up Congestion
There is significant traffic entering and dropping off students in the morning and afternoons. School starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. and students are considered unexcused late to class after 8:00. Parents should factor in at least a 20 minute wait time from Fingerboard Rd to the drop off entrance. If possible, we strongly suggest carpooling! There is also very little traffic entering school from 7:30-7:45. The building opens for students at 7:30 each morning.
SGA Initiatives for String Sacks and Water Starts at UMS!
The PTSA has purchases U-Hawks Sport draw-string sacks for students to carry from class to class if they wish. This was an UMS SGA initiative that we will be implementing this year. All students may carry this sport draw string sack to and from class if they wish BUT THEY MAY NOT CARRY A TRADITIONAL BACK PACK TO AND FROM CLASS DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE SIZE! Students may also carry water with them to and from class. No other liquid will be allowed as students tend to drop them.
Sign Up for HAC & Find Out First + Nurse Procedures
Please sign up for the Home Access Center (HAC) By doing so, you will have daily access to your child's grades! Also, sign up for Find Out First so you can get information as UMS releases it!
Also, students with cell phones will sometimes text parents to pick them up because they are not feeling well. It is imperative that students see the Nurse FIRST before calling home. Ask your child if they have seen the nurse before picking them up. Students who do not visit the nurse and get picked up from school because of illness will receive an unexcused absence.
