Haisla Feast Hall
Peter Hildebrand, Partner at Iredale Group, has been selected as the architect for the new Haisla Centre in Kitamaat Village, BC. The new building, which benefits from a dramatic site with panoramic ocean views, will encompass almost 40,000 square feet. It will be a gathering place for Haisla events and ceremonies, and will also provide athletic and emergency shelter facilities.
“I am very enthusiastic about this project and believe there is an opportunity for something truly unique to come about. The Haisla Nation has made a bold decision in seeking a modern architectural style, which will subtly reflect Haisla values. We are looking forward to realizing their vision in a way that is worthy of the extraordinary natural surroundings and the Haisla Nation.”
Peter's work for First Nations has received accolades from Interiors magazine and World Architectural News (20 Best School Designs in the World)
Masterplan Prize
Aubrey Zacharias, Intern Architect at Iredale, won the Esquimalt Village international design competition. This competition called for the visionary planning of a mixed use community centre next to the Township of Esquimalt’s City Hall on Vancouver Island.
Presented by the Cascadia Green Building Council and sponsored by the Township of Esquimalt, the competition gave designers, architects, and engineers the opportunity to design a town centre that enhances community economic development and sustainable municipal facilities.
Aubrey wrote in his proposal, "In a world situated around demanding economy and rapid population growth, culture and community become increasingly important. The design project has inspired a building that supports natural growth and water recycling and that facilitates a community space for citizens to visit for the day, or inhabit full-time."
