The week before the week...
Next week will be busy with professional development, collaboration, and parent/teacher conferences and will crescendo into the Fall Carnival Friday, October 28, at 6pm. The following week will be busy too. Of course it starts with Halloween. On that day, students grades K-3 can bring (not wear) their costumes to school. We will have a costume parade begining at 1:30pm followed by Halloween parties in several of the classes. Students may also come back between 5:30pm and 7:30pm for "Trunk or Treat," sponsored by the Kasilof Boys and Girls Club, Kasilof Library, and our Local Eagles Club.
We also have our annual pumpkin carving contest on that day. Parents can bring from home, pumpkins that their children have carved. They will be displayed near the front door where students will have the opportunity to vote on the best for each age category. Parents must pick the pumpkins up at the end of school.
To make it an even more exciting time, the sixth grade class (they are in charge of setting up Red Ribbon Week) has decided October 31- November 4, will be Spirit Week. The Red Ribbon Week is intended to be a celebration and commitment to staying drug free. Students throughout the school may "dress up" in recognition of Spirit Week (please help your students select tasteful and appropriate outfits.). The following are the daily themes:
Monday October 31 - 70's and-80’s day
Tuesday Nov 1 - Hat Day
Wednesday Nov 2 - Sports Fan Day
Thursday Nov 3 - Nerd Day
Friday Nov 4 - Mustache Day
It will be an exciting time and a great kick off to our second semester.
