Principal Kionna's Weekly Word
Dear Trix Families,
Finishing Out the Month and Starting a New One
At the end of every month since school has started, I think the same thing... I can't believe that we are heading into a new month. I remember when I was a kid spending time at my grandmother's house. She would always say, "Time sure is flying, you just wait, the older you get the faster it goes." Today, I completely understand her sentiments, because I cannot believe that we are heading into November. Pretty soon we will be celebrating the New Year!
As we head into the late fall and early winter months, we are mindful that it is flu and cold season. Please let us know if your scholar will be out of school for multiple days due to illness.
This past week we had our Harvest Fest, and it was a great turnout! We truly enjoyed all of the families that showed. Scholars seemed to have a great time!
We truly thank all of the families that donated to make this event a success!
LiveSchool Positive Behavior Incentive Field Trip - Great Skate
Tomorrow some scholars will take part in our first quarterly Positive Behavior Incentive Trip to Great Skate. The scholars that were invited to attend earned more than 350 points on LiveSchool for the entire quarter. All scholars will have another opportunity to take part in the incentive field trip next quarter.
If you would like to keep up with your scholar's LiveSchool points and see how they are doing behaviorally, please be sure to reach our to their teacher or Ms.Hayes for your child's individual LiveSchool login information.
There is no game tomorrow. The game that was originally scheduled for tomorrow has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 16, 2023.
After-School Enrichment Program
The after-school enrichment program is now underway! Scholars seem to really be enjoying the enrichment classes.
Soaring Scholar Program
The Soaring Scholars program is underway. Please be on the lookout for upcoming leadership and service opportunities.
New Quarter - Report Cards
Report cards for quarter 1 were mailed out on this past Friday.
We Want a PTA!
Trix Academy is looking to start an official PTA this school year, and we need all of you. We would like to have a robust parent group to partner with the school all year long. Are you interested in joining? Would you like to be a part of the founding team? Please complete the survey below and we will be in touch with next steps. Mrs. Dye will be in touch with all parents, guardians and community members who have signed up. The first meeting is coming soon!

Resident Principal's Motivational Moment
Hello Trix Families,
“Our children are the rock on which our future is built, our greatest asset as a nation. They will be the leaders of our country, the creators of our national wealth, those who care for and protect our people.” — Nelson Mandela
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend, and enjoying the beautiful weather! Fall is my favorite time of year with crisp mornings and cool evenings. I know that we share a lot in the newsletter and we share important information. First, I want to thank the staff for such hard work that they do with our scholars from K-8.
Several assessments are coming up this week and we are looking for our scholars to succeed. I want to also remind you that our 8th graders already started to apply to high school, but first I want to thanks Ms. Gordon and Mr. Orellana is supporting our scholars in this effort. Parents of 8th graders, please see below important information for your scholars:

Hello Trix Academy Families,
Hello Trix Academy Families Quarter 1 is complete and report cards were mailed home Friday. Please review grades with your scholars and give praise for A’s and B’s! This helps to reinforce a strong academic focus.
You’ll also receive the NWEA Family report which shows how your scholar is doing compared to students across the country. We want our scholars to score proficient and above average which gives them the best opportunities for future success. You play a big part in that success by helping scholars develop strong routines for homework and bedtimes.
Thank you so much for all you do!

Hello Trix Families,
LiveSchool is our behavior management system that is used to monitor and track scholar behavior, both negative and positive. Scholars can earn prizes, parties and trips for positive behavior. Please look for your parent information to come home this week so that you can access your scholars account. This will allow you to stay on top of your child's behavior. If you have any questions regarding LiveSchool, please contact Ms.Hayes at (313)426-1020.
Ms. Smith's Operational Rundown
Hello Trix Families!
What an exciting and wonderful first be back! We were excited to see all of our old and new faces. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back this week.
Here are a few operational reminders:
Office Hours: Monday- Friday, 8am - 4pm
Scholars may enter the main entrance of the building at 7:45 am each morning. Scholars will enter the building and wait in the lunchroom with the supervision of a Trix Staff member. Breakfast will begin at this time. Our instructional day begins at 8:05. We will have a building wide morning meeting each morning during breakfast, then scholars will move immediately to their classroom instruction starting promptly at 8:20 am.
Dismissal starts at 3:30 pm. Early pick-ups hinder your scholar’s academic progression because they will miss important instruction. Parents are welcome to start pulling up to the Trix Academy Pick-up Sign (In GREEN), located at the corner of Fairmont and Fairport. You will give the name and grade of your scholar to the Trix Staff Members in the front. We will radio the scholar’s name(s) for pick up.
Scholars will be released to the parents in the pick-up line at 3:30 pm. Walkers will be released at 3:35 pm.
