Nō Kānata ahau

My name is Jennifer

My family name is Ioannou which is Greek Cypriot as my husband’s parents are from Greece and Cyprus

I have lived in Wellington for many years and Mt Victoria is my mountain

I grew up in Waikanae and Waikanae River is my river

I was born in Canada and many of my family members still live in Canada.

I have shared a little bit about myself and I’m looking forward to getting to know you, too. In the near future, I will be organising opportunities for us to connect together. When we meet I will share more about my background and experience, as well as my vision for St Brigid’s, and also to hear from you what your aspirations are for your children and the school.

Welcome to our new students

We had our whakatau (Māori welcome) on Monday where the new tamariki, staff and myself were welcomed to St Brigid’s School. A big thank you to the staff and tamariki for their wonderful preparation to make the welcome so special and memorable for the newest members of our community.

A very warm welcome to the following tamariki who have started with us this week:

Year 0 - Room 2 - Caura Carrig, Alexander Cruz, Alethea Moors-Leota, Vanessa Torrente

Year 1 - Room 1 - Lunafreya Arceo

Year 5 - Room 6 - Neziah Acacio

Year 7 - Room 12 - Josiah Acacio

We are absolutely thrilled to have you and your families join St Brigid’s School. I know that you will settle in quickly and be welcomed by our friendly and warm community.

I look forward to meeting you and working closely with our tamariki, staff and parent community to build unity and share the St Brigid’s vision of “learning together with strength of character and gentleness of heart."

Netsafe Week 25 July - 29 July for St Brigid’s Community

This year the Netsafe Week theme is Diversity Matters: Online Safety Done Together.

We know it is important to continue to work together as school/home to ensure our tamariki are kept safe online and are practising being positive digital citizens. We would like to share with parents below a document from Linewize (our online safety provider) which gives some good tips for parents to help manage conversations about children’s online behaviour.
