THREE DISCIPLINE BASICS
Discipline can be tough, but focusing on some fundamentals helps guide the process.
-Be Clear and Hold the Line. Set up a plan and relay consequences in a calm manner. Stick to it and let it be the teachable moment.
-Keep it Private. Think about how you would feel if corrected in front of others.
-Stay Calm. Teachable moment.
Jaguar Spawtlight: Noah Metcalfe
I was born in Edina, MN. I am 38 years old. I am in my 13th year of teaching. My first 9 years of
teaching were spent in Houston, TX in Aldine ISD. This is my 4th year teaching 7th grade social
studies at JA.
My wife's name is Tina. She is a former teacher who has bravely chosen to take on the job of
in-home daycare so that she can stay home with our 2 year old. Speaking of which, we have 2
kids. Our son's name is Abram and is entering 2nd grade at Elton Hills. Our daughter, Hazel, will
be turning 2 in October. As all parents do, I spend the majority of my free time with my family. I
am also an avid soccer and football fan. As far as hobbies, I enjoy woodworking and have
recently taken up pyrography (decorative wood burning). I have an addictive personality which
shows itself in the form of owning 20+ pairs of glasses and counting.
