GT with Mrs. G!
March 21, 2018
Short and Sweet Edition
4th-8th graders at SSS will be signing up for 4th quarter extensions tomorrow. I am offering the following courses geared toward gifted learners and high achievers:
MTW 4th-6th grade: Literary Analysis- Historical Fiction focus. We will be reading short pieces together and practicing literary analysis and writing skills. Students will self-select a historical fiction novel for independent reading and a culminating project.
MTW 7th/8th grade: Literary Analysis- Social Justice focus. We will read short pieces together to practice literary analysis and writing skills. Students will self-select a novel on the theme of social justice (water shortage, war, immigration, race relations, etc....any area that a student has a passion for will probably work, and I have books I can recommend!) for independent reading and a culminating project.
Friday, all grades: Mind Benders. We will explore the concept of giftedness and how our brains work. We will do work on improving our problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and do fun things to exercise our brains! **I would really like this to be limited to identified GT kids. If someone has a burning passion to be in the class but isn't identified, they need to see me before they sign up so I can discuss it and approve them!**
