Some reminders for the school year
September 26, 2022
Welcome Back!
On behalf of the staff at Dr. Mudd Elementary Community School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college
Listed below are our school rules so that you and your child can review them together. If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to contact me or discuss them with your child’s teacher. It is important that you and your child be fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year. During the first week of school, each student received a copy of the CCPS Student Code of Conduct. We will also conduct grade level assemblies to discuss the handbook and our expectations at Dr. Mudd You may also access the Student Code of Conduct on the CCPS website.
As a student at Dr. Mudd, I will uphold the 3 R’s
To Be Respectful
To Be Responsible
and Ready to Learn
The Dr. Mudd staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school community. We thank you for your support and look forward to meeting you on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm for our annual Open House.
At our Open House, you will learn about our school-home Parent Compact, Title I program, homework policy, school expectations, and grade-level curriculum. You will also receive your book on successful strategies to help you help your child have a successful school year.
We look forward to continuing our work together as we support the Dr. Mudd community. We hope you have enjoyed our first few weeks of school!

Colors All Around
On Monday, October 3rd, prekindergarten and kindergarten will begin a unit on colors. Each day we will focus on a different color.
Below you will find a list of color days. We are asking that you TRY to dress your child in the color of the day. It can be a shirt, pants, socks, shoes or headband – whatever you have!
