A Message from Ms. Lilly

RNE Newslettter August 17th 2017

From Ms. Lilly

Dear RNE Family,

You may have noticed that our class sizes are very small in some grade levels and very large in others. Please remember that all class placements are tentative for the first two weeks of school as Fulton County Schools examines staffing needs. Teacher positions are added or removed from schools as defined by their actual enrollment. Our enrollment is growing daily, however we will not know for sure if were are collapsing or adding a class at any grade level until after Fulton County Schools completes a system wide review of needs. I will keep you informed as I know more in the coming days. Please make sure that your email address and phone numbers are up to date in the front office.

The students are doing a fabulous job learning our expectations for our Cafeteria. This year, we have a few empty tables for our parent visitors to use for lunch. Below, you will find the schedule for students in grades Pre K- 1st. We ask that you use the following schedule if you are joining your child for lunch in the café. Please know you are always welcome to check your student out for lunch and utilize the picnic tables, outside near the garden.

Solar Eclipse Monday 21st, 2017

On August 21st, 2017 at approximately 2:35 pm our area is expected to experience a solar eclipse. To ensure the safety of our students while also allowing for participation in this once in a lifetime event, we are planning for multiple eclipse experiences.

The students will be viewing the eclipse in the safety of their classrooms beginning at 1:00pm through NASA’s live streaming coverage. During the live stream, teachers and volunteers will be taking groups of 3-5 students outside to experience the eclipse with certified solar eclipse glasses for safe viewing. This will allow students to see the eclipse in its entirety in the classroom, while also experiencing a portion of the eclipse outside.

Students must have a completed permission slip in order to participate in the outdoor experience. Please make sure this permission slip has been returned to your teacher.

Boy Scouts

Please join our Boy Scout Representatives this evening from 6:00pm- 8:00pm in the RN café for information about joining.
