Parent Update

Hello KRMS families,

I hope families have had a good start to the new year. With Christmas recess over three weeks ago and having one of our longest uninterrupted times of the year between now and our February vacation it is a very busy time of year. This Friday marks the end of the second quarter and first semester. Students will be enrolled in new exploratory classes starting next Monday, January 31st. Grades will close for the second quarter this Friday. Report cards will be emailed on Friday, February 4, 2022. Teachers' gradebooks are updated regularly throughout the weeks so, there should be no surprises as JumpRope is a live document. Due to many students being out of school this week while following the Covid protocols, they should reach out to their teachers if there is some work that they can not necessarily get to their teachers before Friday. I'm sure if there is a plan in advance their teachers would be more than happy to support them in getting in this week's work a couple days late.

Things continue to be very busy here at KRMS. In the last few weeks we have unfortunately had one teacher retire and another teacher resign. With these unexpected changes and managing staffing from a Covid issue there have been some moving parts. I understand this is not ideal, but we have worked hard to put a plan in place so our children receive the high quality of education that we pride ourselves on with the GWRSD. As of Monday, January 31, 2022, the following professional staff changes will be as follows:

Mr. Charles Edson - Retiring from teaching effective Friday, January 28th

Mrs. Karon Place (team Delta) will be transferred to the Technology Education Teacher

Mr. Bertrum Ramsay will be the long-term mathematics substitute on Team Delta for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year

Ms. Nicole "Nicky" Gerome (team Delta) has resigned in her Social Studies position effective, Friday, January 28, 2022.

Ms. Molly Koch will be the long-term social studies substitute on Team Delta for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year.

These changes have occured unexpectedly; however, I am pleased that we have talented staff such as Mrs. Place, Mr. Ramsay, and Ms. Koch to transition smoothly into these positions.

Although we understand we have a lot of work left to do this year, this is also the time of year that we start to work with the high school for our 8th graders transition to the high school next year. 8th grade parents, PLEASE see the message below from Lara Crane that each of you should have received as an email. This is at KRHS, next Wednesday night at 6:30 pm. Information is below on registering. Our transition to high school is something our 8th grade teams take very seriously and have multiple activates and meetings upcoming with students to properly prepare them for a successful start to their freshman year.

Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation.

8th Grade Parent Night

Wednesday, Feb. 2nd, 6:30pm

396 South Main Street

Wolfeboro, NH

January 18, 2022

Dear Parent/Guardian of an 8th Grade Student:

February is the time of year when the high school begins scheduling for next year. Your 8th grade student will start reviewing the requirements for high school courses via several presentations hosted by the KRHS Counseling Department, including touring elective courses in the high school, and speaking with teachers about those courses. We will be asking students to complete their elective course registration online via their Powerschool accounts by Friday, February 25, 2022. Their 8th grade team teachers will support students logging on to Powerschool and completing the registration process online. KRHS will also share more information about this process with parents/guardians at our parent/guardian night, and will follow up with an email to those who are not able to attend.

To assist you with your child’s course sign-ups, the KRHS Counseling Department will be hosting an 8th Grade Parent/Guardian Night on Wednesday, February 2nd at 6:30PM (snow date 02/03) in the KRHS lecture hall so that you can meet with our transition team to better understand the opportunities at the high school. We hope to answer any questions you may have regarding the curriculum as well as review the high school requirements, 9th grade placement guidelines and explain the scheduling process. You may also find the KRHS Program of Studies at the KRHS Counseling Website, which lists all our courses with descriptions. Click on Program of Studies for 2022/2023 Course Information.

We are requesting pre-registration for this program- so that we can gauge the space needs for the evening. Masks will be required for all who attend. Students are welcome to attend with their parents/guardians-however-they will have heard the majority of information during presentations and tours. Click here to register for the event.

Please join us for this important meeting. Please feel free to park in any of the high school parking lots and enter through the main high school entrance under the clock tower. If you have any questions, please call the high school counseling office at 569-2055.
