They may not have won every game, but team members such as 4th grader, Gabe Moore, had a great time playing this season. Gabe says that he enjoys playing football because it’s a fun sport. When asked what his favorite thing about playing football this year was, he said that he enjoyed running the ball and making a touchdown for his team. Devotion
“Many of the woes are wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts Him.”
Psalm 32:10
I cannot speak for everyone, but I believe one of the biggest issues many Christians face is lacking trust for God. One thing that is important to understand is that because you sometimes have doubts about God does not mean you do not love him. God understands that we have doubts, and we are sometimes hesitant to give every aspect of our lives to Him. Realizing it is okay to struggle is the first step in living a better life. Trust is something that should be added to the list of things every Christian should try to reach.
Next, many people wonder how we can completely trust in God without hesitation. This does not happen overnight; it is a process. First, prayer is the key to growing closer to the Lord. Continue to work with God on fully trusting Him; He loves to help us! The Lord’s love surrounds the people who trust Him. Today, lay your worries at His feet and trust your Savior with every part of your life.

Y-Club is an active club at Piedmont Academy. The president for 2017-2018 is Morgan Spivey. The vice-president is Grayson Bradley. The secretary is Ivy English, and the chaplain is Kelsey Leach. The teacher sponsors are Christie Wallace and Molly Tyree. At the end of October, the club begins a community food drive. This food drive will go through November. The president, Morgan Spivey, commented that her favorite event that Y-club does is the food drive. She said, “I love the food drive because it allows everyone to get involved.”
Also in November, the club sponsors the Veteran’s Day Breakfast. This breakfast is an annual event that honors veterans in our community. The breakfast will be held on November 9th in the lunchroom. It begins at 8 o’clock that morning. This is a large event for all of the Y-club members in which they can participate. Loren Pope is a member in Y-club, and she is in 10th grade. When Loren was asked what is the best part about being a Y-club member, she responded, “The best part of being involved in Y-club is giving back to my school and my community. I really enjoy helping others.”
This is the purpose of Y-club: helping others. Giving back to the community and being helpful to those in need is the main mission of Y-club.

High School Football
The Piedmont Academy football team has played another game, which was the start of region games. On September 29th, the boys did not have a game. They were preparing for the region games to come. One of the football coaches, Coach Costley, said, “The season has not gone like we have thought it would, but we have a new start with the region games. We are all very excited to see what the future holds.” The Cougars played the first region game on Friday, October 6th at Windsor in Macon. The Cougars beat the Knights 41-20. The next two games are region games, and they will both be held at home on October 13th and October 20th.
If the Cougars will advance to playoffs cannot be determined yet. The results will depend on how the Cougars play and how the other teams in the region play. Garrett Kirksey is the newest member of the team. When asked what the hardest part about being on the team is, he responded, “The hardest part is adjusting from my old school’s team to Piedmont’s football team. I really enjoy all of the people and coaches, though.”
The faculty, coaches, teachers, students, and cheerleaders are all extremely proud of the boys and the progress they have made and for winning the first game of region. Good luck for the remainder of the season!
