Phone-A-Thon kicks off Fall Fundraiser...

Yesterday we kicked off our Fall fundraiser. We utilized our RtI time for 5th grade and Advisory period for grades 6th - 8th. The students did a fantastic job getting pledges from family, friends and neighbors. The students had a blast competing with other groups to see who could raise the most pledges. We were able to account for over $14,000 in pledges for LVMS.

We would like to utilize the money that we raise to increase our technology on campus (more Ipads), provide training for staff, be able to take more field trips for students and do campus improvement projects. Did you know that we have a fountain in the courtyard of our campus? I've been in the district 7 years and have never known that. How awesome would it be to get that up and running again. We are starting an After School Program for our students on Wednesdays this semester. These programs will have costs to them.

Additionally, we are sending four teachers in two weeks to Capturing Kids' Hearts training ( in Salado. This is an incredible opportunity for our teachers. I would like for every teacher on our campus to be able to attend this training. However, this training costs $3,000 to send our four teachers. Our budget isn't big enough to send all of our teachers who haven't been. This is where our fundraising funds come into play.

I apologize for the miscues in communication about this fundraiser, however our students did have fun kicking off this fundraiser. The money is due next Friday, October 10th. Thank you for your support!

6 Week Progress Reports coming soon!

We will have our first 6-week grade check for all students this Friday, October 3rd. As soon as failure reports have been run, you will be notified through Parentlink that you may access progress report card grades on TxConnect. These grades will stay frozen for 48 hours before new grades are submitted.

Please take the time to check your student’s progress and contact teachers if you have any concerns.

Both will be in Viking Hall and will run from 6:30-9:00! The dance is for grades 6-8 ONLY and will be in the cafeteria. Wristbands will be provided for entrance into the dance. 5th graders will be in the LVISD Board Room. There will be concessions for both events. Drop off and Pick-Up for the 5th grade "Movie Night" will be in the front of the school, while grades 6-8 drop off and pick-up will be in back by Viking Hall.

Being in a small town provides a great opportunity to lend a hand to our neighbors when difficult times come. One of our LVMS families is in need of our assistance. Please click on the link below to get the rest of the story.

Hero's Package Drive...

We are about to launch a fantastic opportunity for our students. Our Life Skills class will be starting a care package drive for the month of October. We will be collecting donations, letters, etc. to create care packages to send to soldiers overseas. The LVISD Life Skills classes will be in charge of organizing/collecting for each campus.

We are using the website to organize the drive. They have contacts in various troops and in multiple locations that will pass out care packages and letters to soldiers who do not receive much mail. This is a new drive for us that we have never tried, so if you’d like to help out please contact Amanda Hendrix.

This is a great opportunity for our kiddos to get involved on the campus, and we'll be able to practice a TON of great skills - inventorying the donated items, sorting and storing them, taking the donations/thanking people who are turning them in, etc. I think this will be a fun project and I'm excited to get started!

Thank you for all your support.
