Martin School Family Update
November 10, 2022
Kindergarten Creations (KCF)
Dear Families,
As you can see from the above pictures of creative responses to text taken in our purple hallway, our walls are filling up with beautiful projects and carefully written pieces. You will be able to see all that we have on display during next week's Parent/Teacher Conferences. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
Also, please remember that students do NOT have school tomorrow in recognition of Veterans' Day. For those who have served, thank you for your service.
Please read below for other school news and a link to North Gear, and if you haven't yet, follow us on Twitter! @JWMartinSchool and Like Us on Facebook.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer Evans
Principal
Notes from the Desk of the MARC Program
The student assembly that your 4th or 5th grader attended today was about Bullying and Cyberbullying. Students have learned about the characteristics of bullying and cyberbullying and how to differentiate between fighting/conflict and bullying situations. Online safety was covered and students were educated about the dangers of disclosing too much online. This presentation was designed to leave students with concrete ideas of how to best deal with bullies in school and online.
Having open discussions about what happens in school or on the internet can be effective
in helping to increase awareness surrounding the topics of bullying and cyberbullying. The following bulleted questions are a few talking points to hit with your kids:
- Have you ever seen bullying at your school? How about online?
- What kinds of things do your classmates chat about and post online?
- I want to understand what goes on with you, your friends, and your classmates. When something goes wrong, the more you tell me, the better able I am to help fix the situation.
The MARC website has many free downloads for parents that may help answer questions
and provide information about bullying and cyberbullying. Visit their website for more information: www.marccenter.org
