St. Jerome School Newsletter

"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."
St. Theresa of Calcutta
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
As we approach the beginning of school and welcoming all of our new and returning lions, I will be resuming our weekly newsletters. I hope that you are all enjoying the summer and that these last few weeks of the break continue to go well.
As of today, we do not have any updates or changes to the opening protocol that was set by the Office of Catholic Education this past June. I am including a copy of Dr. McLaughlin's letter below. The Office of Catholic Education, however, is supposed to issue a letter next week with more information; we also have an administrator's in-service tomorrow, Thursday.
This month, we bid farewell to three of our teachers who are moving to different school: we pray for a great new school year for Miss Weiss, Miss Wojton, and Mr. Dooley. We thank Miss Weiss for her flexibility in teaching assignments in her time at St. Jerome; we appreciate Miss Wojton for doing outstanding work as a first year teacher in the midst; and we are grateful for Mr. Dooley's work in getting our school up to par with technology and being supportive of our faculty and students. I am working on finishing up the hiring process to fill these positions, and I will introduce the new teachers as we get closer to the start of school.
Miss Labovitz will be teaching 2nd grade, Mrs. Cerruti will be moving to PreK-4, Miss McGilloway will be teaching 1st grade.
We ask that our families please keep Mrs. Hayes in your prayers as she recovers from an injury; she will be out for the beginning of school, and I am working on obtaining a long term substitute until she is able to return.
This summer, we were able to refresh our science books in 1st-6th grades and social studies books in 1st-5th, all aligned and approved programs by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In addition, we were able to order new computers for our computer lab with CARES/ESSER funds; we expect them to arrive soon (the orders had to be placed through the school district, so they may be delayed).
Over the next few weeks, we will continue to provide more information about the start of school including drop off/pick up reminders, lunch program information, summer projects, after school activities, and anything else that you need to know to begin school. We will also be sending out information about orientation for Pre-K and Kindergarten students.
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!
