Morton's Musings

Communication for the week of February 15, 2016

Parent Teacher Conferences - Thursday, February 18th and Friday, February 19th

At the conference we will be sharing lots of information regarding your child's strengths and their areas of growth. Thank you for coming to the conference prepared to ask questions about what we are doing in school to support your child and what you can do at home to support your child. We will be going over their MAPS (Measure of Academic Progress) and DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Early Literacy Skills). If you would like to look at these reports prior to the conference, call, email or message me and I will get you a copy.

I am looking forward to seeing at this conference. BUT also remember to contact me with any questions, concerns or joys at anytime!

A note about your conference time went home last Friday. If you have not received the note, please ask your kiddo or contact me. Thanks!

Reading

Comprehension Skill - We are again working on drawing a conclusion. Whenever you are reading ask your child a question about the characters or setting that the author has not stated directly.

Whenever you are reading with your child and they are stuck on a word, ask them, "What would make sense? What would look right there? What would sound right there?" This might help them on that tricky word.

Spelling

way, day, gray, train, tail, may, mail, play, rain, afraid

High Frequency Words - Words to know how to read in a snap!

enjoy, give, surprise, worry, would

Math

We are starting to work on understanding the one place value and the tens place value. The students who have a firm grasp on this concept will be working on some multiples of 10 this week.
