Formative Assessment Techniques
Formative Assessment Strategies for: Peer Review
Two Stars and A Wish: Students provide feedback on another student's work with 2 things that he/she thinks was well done (2 stars) and then 1 suggestion for improvement (wish). Write the comments on sticky notes so if the recipient doesn't find them helpful, the comment can be quickly removed.
To improve quality of feedback, collect the sticky notes (make sure they are anonymously) and use a document camera to display comments to class and discuss the usefulness of the comments. Discuss the salient features of the best-rated feedback. (William, 2011)
Preflight Checklist: Use this strategy when there are a number of clear requirements that need to be completed on an assignment before submission. Each student has a classroom peer sign off on an assignment before it can be handed in-such things as title, page numbers, graphs, etc. (William, 2011)
I-You-We Checklist: At the end of a group activity, each student records something about his/her own contributions, something about other individuals' contributions, something about other individuals' contributions, and an evaluation of the quality of the work of the group as a whole. (William, 2011)
If you use any of these strategies, please share with me how it went! Student work samples are also welcomed! Thank you for your commitment to professional growth!

Below are three links related to testing. The first is simply the log in for AIR. You may want to bookmark that as we will be using that frequently in the months to come.
The second is a link to the PDF of the test administrator user guide.
The third is an actual test administrator certification course. It is pretty good. AIR works basically the same as it did last year with some minor modifications.
