Literacy
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” – Margaret Fuller
Each day students engage in a variety of literacy activities, which includes Guided Reading and Writing. Since returning to school 4B have been learning how to persuade others. We have even tried to persuade Mr Pitt to let us have chickens by writing a persuasive letter to him. Students have also been spending a lot of time enhancing their reading skills during Guided Reading. Each day they read with a teacher, while discussing what is happening in their story. This ensures they are developing their comprehension skills and improves their oral communication.
Learning to Think Outside the Box!
Students in 4B love working together in groups. Each Friday they are set a STEM challenge to complete as a team. STEM is an approach to learning that integrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics and teaches students to problem solve, use their creativity, work as a team and communicate with others. We have had so much fun building bridges, parachutes and boats and are looking forward to completing more challenges throughout the year.
