How We Voted

Since 1963 we have voted for the DFL (Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party) to the present. We stayed with democrat party for a very long time during the time we had Donald Fraser, Martin Sabo, & Keith Ellison.

Meet Our Representative: Keith Ellison

Born on August 4, 1963.Keith Ellison, the third of five sons, was born and raised Roman Catholic in Detroit, Michigan, by his parents Leonard Ellison (a social worker and a psychiatrist) and Clida Ellison.Ellison's youth was influenced by the involvement of his family in the civil rights movement, including his grandfather's work as a member of the NAACP in Louisiana. In November 2002, Ellison was elected to his first public office, as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives serving House District 58B. At the time he took his seat, his party was the smallest House minority in Minnesota history.During this session, Ellison was appointed to the Governmental Operations & Veterans Affairs Policy Committee, the Judiciary Policy & Finance Committee and the Local Government & Metropolitan Affairs Committee Keith has been the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district since 2007. He is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), Ellison is a co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a Chief Deputy Whip, also notably serving in the House Committee on Financial Services. Ellison is the first Muslim to be elected to Congress. He is also the first African American elected to the House from Minnesota.
