Alger Hiss Trial

After being accused of perjury and treason by Joseph McCarthy, former State Department official Alger Hiss was put on trial twice. The first trial ended in a deadlock jury while the latter found Hiss guilty of perjury. Alger Hiss was sentenced to 5 years in prison, but only served 3 years and 8 months.
