The Trailside Twister
May 2018
Principal's Corner
Spring is finally here! As we appreciate the warmer weather, let us also show our appreciation for our teachers. Next week, May 7th through the 11th is Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to the Trailside PTO for having a full week of events and treats planned for our staff. Parents and students can also show their gratitude by writing a note or sending a short email to thank their teachers.
Next week on Tuesday, May 8th we will have our spring concert performed by our 1st and 2nd grade classes along with our 5th and 6th grade choir. Thank you to Riley Roberson and Deanna Kulow for all their hard work and dedication!
MAP testing has started and will continue the next couple weeks. Your child's teacher will notify you which specific days the students will be testing.
Attention 6th grade families! We will have our annual 6th grade memory walk on the last day of school, Thursday, June 7th. Before the final bell rings we have the 6th graders take a walk down memory lane. They will walk through the blue wing, green wing, then finally the red wing as their fellow Twisters bid them farewell. It is a simple yet symbolic way for our 6th graders to say goodbye to Trailside. You are welcome to come and stand in the front hall while your child exits Trailside for one last time. As always, we will have tissues available.
Thank you for your continued support of Trailside!

5th graders earned a potato party to celebrate reaching their goal for “Spud-tacular Reading”. To earn this party, students read books of different genres and wrote about them on paper potatoes. Students surpassed the 200 book goal! At the party students played musical potato, answered potato trivia questions, solved potato puzzles, and colored potato illustrations. They also ate potato bread and potato chips. A spud-tacular time was had by all!
