Middle Age Castles
Why They Were Built
Middle age castles were built for mainly protection. Originally they were built of wood and later evolved to stone and concrete. Many people lived here including the nobles and there workers.
Many castles were built on the sides of cliffs and had moats around them for extra protection. They also had slits in the walls so the defenders could shoot at the attackers without being in danger.
Inside the Castle
In the castle there were barracks for the nights and soldiers. Also the castle had many bedrooms, hallways, and staircases. It also had a chapel to hold religious services.
