Junior High Algebra 1 Placement for 2019-2020

Notice – Junior High Algebra I Placement for 2019-2020

7th Grade PreAP or PreAP/GT Mathematics: Students who are enrolled in Seventh Grade PreAP or PreAP/GT Mathematics, who make a 70 or better course average for the year will be enrolled in Algebra I in the eighth grade. Students who are enrolled in Seventh Grade PreAP or PreAP/GT Mathematics, with a course average of below 70 for the year, wishing to take Algebra I in eighth grade, must register to take the Credit by Exam for Eighth Grade Mathematics. A score of 80% or better is required on the Credit by Exam for eligibility for Algebra I in eighth grade. The deadline for requesting CBE is May 22, 2019 for the July 8-11 testing window. Letters to parents about this process will be distributed to students the week of April 29th.


7th Grade Academic Mathematics

Students who are enrolled in 7th grade Academic Mathematics who wish to accelerate their math instruction may take advantage of the district’s Credit by Exam (CBE) process for the 8th grade curriculum. Students must score 80% or better on the CBE to access Algebra I in eighth grade. The deadline for requesting CBE is May 22, 2019 for the July 8-11 testing window. Please contact Mrs. Clay, the 7th grade counselor, if your child would like to participate in the CBE.

WCJH Math Camp Registration and Information Details

The WoodCreek Junior High math department is pleased to present a math camp for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math students on July 31st. The sessions offered will be taught by WCJH math teachers in math classrooms.

Details- Your child can attend either a morning or afternoon session. The morning session will be from 8:30-11:30am and the afternoon session will be from 12:30-3:30pm.

Cost- Each session will cost $20 total. This year we are doing an online registration.

Registration- The online registration will open at 8:00am on May 9th. The form closes at midnight on May 9th, all registrations must be completed that day. Payment and other important information will be provided in the registration form. Set your reminders! Put the May 9th registration date on your calendar, and use the link below to register your student for the July 31st WCJH Math CAMP!

NJHS Information for the 2019-2020 School Year

NJHS Officers for the 2019-2020 School Year - Current 7th graders who are eligible for NJHS and want to run for officer need to pick up an officer packet from Mrs. M. Lewis in room 1187. Completed packets and teacher recommendations are due to Mrs. M. Lewis in room 1187 by Friday, May 3rd at 3:55 pm. **Note- only students who will attend WCJH for the 2019-2020 school year may run for officer!


NJHS Induction for the 2019-2020 School Year - Current 7th graders who are eligible for NJHS and want to participate must attend both the mandatory induction practice and induction ceremony.


The practice will be on Thursday, May 2nd at 3:35-4:15 pm in the competition gym. Students need to be picked up in the back parking lot.


The induction ceremony will be on Monday, May 6th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the competition gym. *Students must arrive at 5:30 pm.* Dress code is enforced. Girls- dress, skirt, or nice slacks. Boys- slacks and a nice shirt. No flip flops or tennis shoes. Attire must be school appropriate.


1st NJHS Meeting and Officer Elections - Current 7th graders who are participating in NJHS and will attend WCJH for the 2019-2020 school year need to attend the 1st NJHS meeting and officer elections. The meeting will be on Wednesday, May 8th at 3:35-4:30 pm in the commons. Students need to be picked up in the back parking lot.

Fun Food Friday

Our last Fun Food Friday of the year is fast approaching on May 3rd!

We can’t do this event without you, so please consider donating your time or helping with candy and drink donations.

The sign-up to volunteer and donate is included below. We have added links to Sam’s and Amazon for candy and drink donations to make it easier to order.

I have also included the link to pre-order your students hot food from Cane’s and/or Double Dave's.

The last day to order will be Wednesday, May 1st. We will be handing out wristbands during lunch periods next week, please remind your student to put them in a safe place.

WCJH 8th Grade Clap Out!

It's that time of year again where we celebrate our graduating 8th graders! Please come enjoy a "Clap Out" in their honor. All 8th graders will walk the halls of WoodCreek Junior High while being cheered on by students, faculty, parents, and community members. The Clap Out will start promptly at 9:45am on Monday, May 20, 2019.


If you are a parent or community member that will be joining us, please click on the link below and complete the google form below by 4:00pm on Friday, May 17, 2019 to speed up the check-in process. This will allow our front office staff to raptor you in early, and have your name tag pre-printed. All parents who complete this form should park in the back of the school where you will be greeted with your pre-printed name tag. If you are unable to complete the google form by the deadline, please park in the front of WCJH so you can be raptored in upon arrival.

We are excited to continue WCJH's new tradition for our graduating 8th graders. On Monday, May 20th, 2019 the 8th grade students will walk the school dressed in pride, wearing either a t-shirt or school colors representing the high school they'll be attending next year. Under-classmates, teachers, staff, and family members will congratulate them and say farewell as they walk through the school. The Clap Out will start promptly at 9:45am on the 20th.

As part of the celebration, the 8th Grade End-of-Year-Committee is selling Katy and Tompkins high school shirts for 8th graders. Please note that those students who purchased a ticket to the dance will automatically receive one.

· Or print the order form (found here) and send it to the front office with cash or check in an envelope addressed to the PTA.

On Tuesday, April 30th from 7:30-8:30 PM we will be having a Viking Athletics parent meeting in the Seven Lakes Junior High Competition Gym. This meeting is for the parents of any incoming 7th and 8th grade student interested in playing sports for the 2019/20 school year. It is not mandatory to attend, but gives us a chance to introduce ourselves and give you information about the structure of our athletics program. We will also distribute information regarding physicals, athletics classes, prerequisites for sports, and all summer camp opportunities.

IMPORTANT: 2019-2020 7th Graders

The State of Texas requires specific immunizations for all 7th graders. The vaccines required, are the TDaP Booster, Meningococcal (1 dose AFTER age 10) and Varicella (2 doses). You will receive a notification, in the mail, if your student needs any vaccinations. Students must have these vaccinations (or Reasons of Conscience) before the start of 7th grade.

Lost and Found

Click the red link below for clothing lost and found items, these items only are in the front office by the PTA desk. All lunch boxes, water bottles, shoes, school supplies, and other clothing items will be stored in the cafeteria. Students can check upfront with Ms. Jen for lost and found electronics.

Clothing items will be photographed and displayed on the lost and found link on a 2 week cycle. Clothing items can be claimed in the front office by the PTA desk.


All ITEMS are DONATED EVERY 2 weeks.
