Prayers needed for Coach Bonds

We are once again asking for our PCA families to come together in prayer. Our own, Coach Bonds, had surgery this summer for colon cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. We ask for your continued prayers of healing for him. He is coming to work every day except treatment days.

Pre-planned Absences

If you will be taking your child out of school for a day or more for a trip or vacation, you must complete a pre-planned absence form. The form can be found on the website at: https://www.pcapvb.org/forms

As a reminder, here is the information from the Parent/Student Handbook regarding pre-planned absences:

PRE-PLANNED ABSENCES (K-8)

It is strongly encouraged that vacations be taken during holidays. If it is necessary for a student to have a pre-planned absence, even if it is only one day, the following procedure must be followed by the family at least five days prior to the absence or the absence will be counted as unexcused.

  • Obtain and complete a Pre-Planned Absence form (found on the website or available in the front office).
  • Obtain the signatures of all the student’s teachers and the principal on the form.
  • Return all make-up work on the day of return to avoid receiving a zero grade.
  • Make up all tests and quizzes at the discretion of teachers.
  • Preplanned Absence forms are sent home via the backpack once they have been approved. If the request is approved, the student (and family) is responsible for obtaining all necessary work from all teachers the day before the absence is to begin. Teachers may disapprove a request if the student’s learning and grades are at risk; therefore, if the teacher does not excuse the absence, the principal cannot intervene.

Virtue of the Month - FAITH

Our virtue for the month of September is FAITH. Don't forget to look for and complete the Home Projects with your child!

Spirit Wear

Please be sure to put your child's name on the tags of their PCA sweatshirts and other spirit wear! Since more students are wearing these items, we want to be sure everything is returned to the owner!

Parents of students in grades 3-8, please be sure to monitor RenWeb to see your child's progress. If you have any questions about any grades, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Basketball

We are excited to have our Blue Angels and families come out to cheer for our teams! As a reminder, we cannot release students to the gym to watch the games without a parent. Thank you for understanding. Here is a schedule for the games - PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE FOR THE JV HOME GAMES.

If you have not done so, please send in your Sacrament Intent Form ASAP!

Volunteer Clearance

We love all our parent volunteers and truly appreciate the help you provide. However, before signing up to volunteer you must be cleared by the Diocese of St. Augustine. If you have not started the background screening process, please visit https://www.pcapvb.org/forms to begin. You can check your status by logging in to your VIRTUS account or by emailing Lynn Woyt at lwoyt@pcapvb.org.

As of July, 2022, the Diocese now requires renewals to complete a 35 minute online training module called A Plan to Protect God’s Children, 4.0. If you took the Protecting God’s Children class before 2017, you will be prompted to complete the module when you login to your VIRTUS account when you go to renew.

COVID reminders

If your child tests positive for COVID, please notify me immediately via email (ddossantos@pcapvb.org).

Anyone who tests positive must stay at home for 5 full days before returning to school on Day 6, provided that there has been no fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines and that other symptoms are improving. (Please note that the first day of symptoms is considered Day 0.)

Siblings of positive cases may continue coming to school as long as they are not exhibiting ANY symptoms. Please use good judgment when sending siblings to school based on the amount of exposure they have had with the positive sibling.
