Message from the Principal

JAJHS Families,

I hope you and your family have had a good week! The warmer weather days are wonderful, and signs of spring are all around!

At JAJHS, students continue to move through the first part of the 4th quarter. 3rd Quarter Report Cards were sent home last Friday with students. If you did not receive this, please contact the school office.

Ohio State Tests are around the corner, and our students are certainly ready for them! On their respective testing days, please be sure your student has a good night’s sleep, has plans for a full breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

As a reminder, there will be no school tomorrow, Friday, April 7th.

If your family is celebrating Easter, I hope you have a special weekend together!

Mr. Malany

SECOND ANNUAL Ohio State Testing Olympic Review!

The 7th grade math teachers have planned our SECOND ANNUAL Ohio State Testing Olympic Review. We do not want the students stressed about testing, but we do want to spend a week reviewing for our assessment for math which takes place on May 2. We are planning an Olympic Games activity the weeks prior to the assessment to try and make our review fun and exciting! Students will earn points for their team based on effort, accuracy, and being a kind and helpful teammate. We are requesting your partnership in donating prize items as listed in the sign up link attached HERE. The teachers are providing donuts as one prize option but the others will be listed on the sign up.

JAJHS College Celebration Day

Throughout this year, we have worked to spotlight various pathways students may take after high school. Today, Thursday, April 5th, our teachers celebrated their various respective colleges. Throughout the day, teachers took a few minutes to share their college experiences with their classes, including their selection process, highlights of college, and challenges they faced. Our goal is to provide our students with information to help them understand their post-secondary options.

Make sure your address and email are up to date and current with your County Department of Jobs and Family Services (CDJFS). Renewal Packets going to the wrong address will result in the termination of Medicaid coverage. Here are ways to update your contact information:

● Call 1-844-640-6446 Monday through Friday 8 am to 4pm.

● Access your existing Ohio Benefits Self-Service Portal at, click on “Access my Benefits”, then click “Report a Change to my Case” and follow the prompts.

● Contact your CDJFS at, then select your county from the dropdown for contact information.

Check your mail and respond to renewal packets. If members don’t respond, they risk losing their Medicaid coverage. Renewal packets can be completed online at, in-person, by mail to their CDJFS, or by phone at 1-844-640-6446. If the due date has passed, still send/complete online your renewal packet. Pioneer Planners

Having a student planner is an essential part of success at JAJHS. Planners are used as hallway/restroom passes. In each class, teachers explicitly share with students what reminders to write in their planners. We believe that developing these executive functioning skills are an important part of helping students grow.

As we enter a new semester, this is a great time to check in on this. Please ask your child to see her/his planner. If it has been misplaced or is not in a functional condition, replacement planners can be purchased in the JAJHS office for $5.00 with checks being payable to “Jonathan Alder Junior High School.”

Thank you for your help with developing this important life-long skill.

Free Sports Physicals!

If you have a student athlete, free sports physicals will be available this summer through Memorial Sports Medicine June 1st through July 31st for the 2023-2024 season. See flyer below!
