The Virtual Compassion Corner
Attention high school parents and students, Cabrillo Point Academy is excited to announce a new mental wellness program for high school students (grades 9-12), The Virtual Compassion Corner.
The Virtual Compassion Corner is designed for high school students to self refer for mental health support when they are having a difficult time in their life. They can meet with a counselor or a school psychologist virtually during school hours to discuss current life situations that may be impacting their overall functioning.
Students can complete the Virtual Compassion Corner form with the link here to notify a counselor they are seeking help. Once the form is submitted, the student receives a confirmation notice and email that contain an appointment link. They can choose to set up a 20 minute phone call or zoom meeting during school hours. If the student does not sign up immediately, we will reach out to the student directly and check in.

Special Education
Reminder: In order for a student to be set up for success, the student needs to be provided with appropriate behavior interventions for daily instruction. Please supply all students with the following when delivering instruction to enhance your students engagement in learning:
Students are given positive reinforcement and feedback from the learning coach regarding appropriate behavior.
Unwanted behaviors are ignored and are not reinforced.
Learning coach utilizes proactive strategies to manage behaviors rather than negative/punitive consequences
Enrichment
Do you need some help with figuring out how to enter requests with the school for educational materials? This video may help!
When requesting Product orders, please always try selecting Approved Vendors first (rather than manually typing in the name of your vendor). Many of our vendors have important, helpful information attached to their profiles in Homeschool Hub, and that information is only available if you select them from our Approved Vendor list.
Please note that Ranger Rick magazine subscriptions are unable to be purchased, due to recurring billing issues.

3 Benefits of Math Doodling
You might think your student is distracted from their work when you see them doodling. You may even remember being bored in school yourself and doodling all over the page. Your student might be doodling because they’re distracted or bored, but they can still benefit from it, especially from math doodling. Math-focused doodling can help your child in so many ways. Not only can doodling help math make sense, but it allows your student to discover math concepts on their own and even derive enjoyment from math.
Math Doodling Benefits
1) It Make Math Concepts More Clear
One of the most noticeable benefits of math doodling is its ability to make math concepts more clear. This is due to the visual nature of doodling. Doodling allows students to take a subject generally considered complex, and represent it in a simple, understandable visual form. YouTube mathematician, Vi Hart, discusses this in the video “The Smoothest Ride.”

Hi, I am a Mother of 4 sons, and grandma of 3 little ones. I learned about homeschooling about 5 years ago and I loved the whole concept. I homeschooled my youngest son and he loved it! I wish I had known this way of teaching when my other sons were little. I love helping families to thrive, and be successful! I am here to help you in any way I can.
